First Track Run

On July 10th as an early birthday present to myself I'm taking my 2010 Cobalt SS to Cecil County Dragway to make my first passes on it. I've gone down the 1/4 mile in my dad's 73 Buick GS but it was an Automatic so this should be interesting to see how I do with a stick car.

dont worry I'm not expecting too much out of both the car and myself I already know what that felt like and I have a picture to remind me of it too

well heres some tips. 1, do not go through the water box. 2, do not burnout your street tires, just give them a quick spin to clean off any debris or loose gravel from the staging lanes. 3, do not launch at redline..launch around 2k. 4, do not instantly drop the clutch and do not instantly go wide open.

other than that. its ALWAYS going to be different for each person/car.

Thanks most of that was actually my plan anyway. Take it easy for the first run then slowly build up to the best that I can get it for the day. Either way I'm gonna have some fun.

Oh and believe me, you're gonna wheel hop if you give it too much throttle in first. Don't get nervous and dump the clutch and bog the launch either like I did my first run, or miss third. Ya, that first run was flat out embarrassing.

It reminds me of my cousin she has I think its the 2006 SS with the supercharger her first run was a 19 something cause she was on the throttle from what I heard and apparently you could've seen her trail she left from the tires plus she couldn't get it into second gear for a little either

Unfortunately today mother nature didn't want me to run my Cobalt today. Forcast here is it's supposed to rain on and off all day. Guess I'm gonna have to want just a little longer before I take it to the track.

Ok that first tip is pretty bad.

Please go through the water box so you don't take sand onto the strip. A quick spin is all you need.

Cecil is a good track you can always expect to get the best time there. This one guy I know his car was running low 9's and he's been trying to get in the 8's. He comes to Cecil and runs 8.80s and 8.90s . Wednesday Im gonna make another attempt before I go on vacation since they're open till 10 hahaha
