Got Pressure?

So I am wondering what tire pressure everyone is running on. According to the information for the SS/SC stock tires the tire pressure should be 32 for normal street driving. But what about the drag?

My latest trip to the drag with my stage 2 was horrible to say the very least and this was on stock pressure. I got no traction and after speaking with one of the guys involved with the top fuel racers that were there he said my pressure might be too high cus I had no traction through to half of second gear.

So this is why I am making this thread. Many have gone to the drag and have actually pulled some really good times. Some on drag radials others even on stock rubber. What was your tire pressure and what would you recommend?

Well I don't know I run my drag radials at 10psi, not sure the stockers would like that very much though, I would say take 10psi off the normal pressure...for starters anyway...

I do not have a Cobalt but a cavalier. I voted anyways. I always tell people you have to play with your pressure. What works for one will not work for the next. On street tires I say start aounr 26-28psi see how it does and adjust from there. Keep in mind when deciding to adjust tire pressure keep your RPM launch the same so you can see if it really made a difference. Once you find the tire pressure you want then you can play with the RPM's. Truly you want to be able to launch at a high RPM with a very slight spin, more of a chirp.

I tried 25psi in my tires and I still spun out of the shoot I even fathered the gas a lil. and it killed my mph at the end. 32psi works ok for me.

20 psi i think would be the best, you need to grip coming out of the hole... thats the issue, and you mph will be LOWER AT THE END IF YOU GRIP but if you spin, it will be higher... thats the way it works... so if you lowered your psi and you got a lower mph but gripped better, its better for your time.

so last night I ended up only trying one '28' and it worked in my favor. Aside from still needing to be careful off the line I could slam the gas once the car was rolling and the tires never broke loose again ... well until I power shifted 2nd. I then granny shifted 2nd and well ended up with my best time of the night in the 98 degree weather of 14.69 steve got a 14.63 later that night after I left aparently and I beleive he and his gf were both at 27 pounds on the tires. I also found out that my stage 2 is gimped cus I need to change my spark plugs and I went over the recommended spark change of 10k miles by 4k miles so I am losing lots o power.

That being said I think 26 would be ideal for the drags. Which is what I will be testing this next week.
