Got a race coming up

I got a race coming up with a celica GTS. My buddies cousin has one and is coming down this weekend. The car has the VVT-LI (varible valve timing, lifting, intelligence). He says that when it kicks in it feels like a turbo. Question is has anyone raced the last production year GTS? I dont wanna talk **** if im gonna get owned.

If it's stock, you should have no problem.

Well if it compares to the Celica GT's you should have no problem. My Dad took down a stock GT with my sister's stock 95 Eclipse GS (non-turbo).

here are the numbers i just found on the celica gts for 2003 or 2004
Horsepower : 180hp @ 7600 rpm
Torque : 130 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm
Redline : 7800 rpm

Top speed : 134 mph
0-60 mph : 7.2 sec.(manual)
0-ź mile : 15.4 sec @ 91.6 mph
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft.

you should have no problem. look at the torque... thats really weak. not to mention quarter mile times. that is 2.4 territory.

shouldn't be any problem since he's stock.

he may say it feel likea turbo when the vvtli kicks in but it's nothing like that. and he only gets a little push for like 1000 rpm them he has to shift.

one of my buddies had one all stock nice car but not ss/sc fast by any means.

as for VR6's yeah VRswaps area fast all stock VRs run low 15's high 14's but slap a little work into one and watch out. it's an amazing motor cast iron black aching to be turboed. much like the on in my garage.
