HANS Device, anyone else use one?
I recently purchased my HANS device and got it mounted to the helmet. My question is if anyone else has one, used one, and their reactions to how it felt and how they felt it improved their safety.
Below are some photos of the device and then a photo with it on me.

Wow! I have never heard of one before, but it sure looks like it would be safer than a traditional helmet. But in FL, you aren't required by the law to wear a helmet, so I don't think I would see many like that down here...
Every track has helmet laws when you get to a ceartin 1/4 mile time.
In my opinion, if you are going fast enough to warrant a helmet mandated by the track and have aftermarket belts that utilize either a v-neck style or over the shoulder, you should use this, regardless of how fast you're going.
They work VERY well. After the earnhart tragedy, its required in nascar and has saved many lives since then. Better safe then sorry. I believe anyone who is required to wear a helmet should also have one of these. Hey it may not be the "cool" thing and may look stupid to others.. but your life is worth soo much more.
The helmet, suit (jacket and pants), head sock, gloves, shoes I got from a contact at Simpson that got it for a great price. To get the helmet, it's called the "Bandit" series and comes in either white or black.
YellowLT, how did you like it?

i support him in using the hans device wether its 100 miles and hour or 200 miles an hour and dead stop means your are dead and its a requirement for some racing circuits it is to race this.

Looking to go 9.5 @ 150mph.
I just wanted to offer some additional information on your discussion of the HANS Device, or any head and neck restraint (HNR) for that matter.
We hear all the time that someone doesn't go fast enough to wear an HNR. First, its not how fast you go, its how fast your stop. Speed hasn't killed or injured anyone that I can think of. Its that sudded stop at the end that causes the damage. Do you know at what speed the SFI tests HNR's for certification? They simulate a 70g crash at approximately 35mph. NASCAR measured Dale Earnhardt's impact with the wall at 43mph. I'm not saying a HNR would have saved his life.
If anyone has any questions concerning HNR's or the HANS Device, please feel free to contact me at hbennett at hansperformance.com.
