HELP! First track time ever this saturday

Hey saturday is going to be the first time at the track can anybody give me pointers on how to do the whole staging thing?!?

oh and im 17 so i was wondering if anybody else that was 17 had to fill out a form signed by parental units to participate in the drag racing? or is that only at specific tracks?

What track are you going to?

You get your ticket and tech form then you go wait in the tech line. If your car passes tech you get a number on your window. Then you let you car cool off a little which can normally be done in the staging lanes. When its your turn up you do your burn out which if your on stock tires is useless. If you don't do a burn out try to drive around the water box, normally it doesn't do anything for street tires but tear them up. Then you stage you go forward until the first set of yellow lights come on, then you inch forward till the second set comes on. When you see both sets of yellow lights on you are staged. Now comes the fun part trying to leave with a good reaction time with out red lighting I normally leave as soon as the last yellow light goes out in my car and when it comes on in my truck. Have fun its really easy and after you watch people do it you will catch on really quick.

i was never asked if i was atleast 18, even though i am. but my track you have to sign an injury wiaver(sp). but for staging, don't go through the water box if you have street tires. theres room to drive around it. then just spin the tires a little bit, i personally don't think it helps any unless youre able to really burn them and get them hot.

yeah i didn't put anything about the lights haha. ^^what he said. its pretty easy, you'll get the hang of it by the end of the night. and if you're not comfortable with trying to get the best reaction time. remember, your time starts when you leave the line. not when the light turns green.

^^^ what he said about the time it doesnt start until you leave the line the only thing that will be affected is the reaction time if you don't leave right at green.

yeah, it just makes for a more exciting race when two equally matched cars try to leave as quickly as possible. lol

Just remember to stage the FRONT tires and not the rear ones. I saw 4 cars in a row at New England Dragway this weekend stage the wrong tires.

Just like whitten said, but don't wait for it to go green, right when the last yellow comes on, GO!! By the time it turns green you'll have a great reaction time. Reacting faster then the other guy can be good but it's not really all that important.
