Hypothetically; What will adding 30-50whp do for me at the strip?

Hypothetically; What will adding 30-50whp do for me at the strip?
As some of you may know I suck at launching. My best 60' was 2.3 and I managed to get a 14.006 out of it.
Not sure what I'm doing, but I'm doing it wrong. A local Cobalt SS/TC member managed to get 13.6 on stock tune with the same bolt ons as me (different brands, but same type) When he got HP tuned he was only capable of doing 13.5 so my guess is he's having the same problem as me just way better at it than I am.
Anyway, instead of trying to learn how to drive I figured, I'll just add more power to make up for what I lack. Like a weapon making a weakling strong in a sense. Instead of learning to fight, I decided to bring a sword to a fist fight. I can still get my ass kicked but not nearly as easily.
So I said to myself, K04+ from WERKS is what I'm gonna do.
Well I got to thinking, what is that actually gonna do for me. $1200 later and I'm now doing 13.7ish lets say. I shaved .3 seconds off my quarter mile time because I spent $1200+Install.
Well my question is this, if I added 30-50whp what will that actually do for my quarter mile run? For me; do you think its worth it to go big turbo or should I invest in a Clutchmasters/ZZP clutch, ZZP Mounts, better tires and continue practicing my launch before I think about more power?
Thanks
Respectfully,
Vahdyx aka Mike

How you drive is probably the biggest thing to affect your times.
My tuner took my car for a few passes while working on my tune, and is a full second faster than me. Because he's been racing for a few years, and can shift crazy fast and knows how to launch.

yea what he said u can make ur car faster for free by launching right. i'm ot the best at launching either (and i don't have the luxury of no lift shift or lsd lol) but i keep practicing and i got my 0-60 from like a 7.5 to about 6.5 roughly (no official timer, just cell phone stopwatch with a friend in car)
but yea, nicer tires, mounts, clutch, that **** would help u out before more power

I would say go with the mounts, clutch, tires, and practice. I don't see adding more power helping you, you could also have Vince limit your power in 1st to help you out.

I'd work on the driving instead. It will make a pretty big difference and its basically free. Adding power might make you even slower off the line because its harder to get it to hook up.

That's what my tuner was setting up when he was driving my car. Helped a ton! Granted I was also paranoid of spinning and having wheel hop, so I was going like 3/4 throttle in first, then once I hit second I would then go WOT, which was killing my times. So now that I know 1st will be good, can go WOT in it.

My traps are 102-105ish regularly.
Think that's bad wait until it's humid or hella hot outside. It's even worse!

actually. you won't be affected as much as you think, yes it'll be a little bit slower. but not anything crazy. reason being is since its a f/i car, you're still going to be pulling in air and compressing it and creating boost. so airflow really won't be that much different. but for a n/a car yeah it'll be a hell of a lot different.
but anyways. to answer your question. learn to drive, its free, and you'll lower your ET more by doing that instead of just adding power and still sucking.

My perception is that all cars based on my altitude is effected. Especially when the wind is blowing it's almost as it's taking away more air from the track.
Not saying I'm right or you're wrong, just saying I'm leaning in a opposite direction due perceived experiences. I feel like my personal experiences make your comment invalid, but I may very well be wrong

first off, get some good tires. in other cars i gained an average of .3 on the quarter with them.
Suggestions for tires are Bridgestone re-11's, Nitto 555's, Hankook rs-3.
The Bridgestones were perfect in my opinion though, quiet, max grip in dry and wet, and nice sidewall.
And obviously they can be daily driven which is the best feature
And as far as 30-50whp should gain you .3-.5 on your time...seems like every ten horspower gains about a tenth at the track....gl

Well guys, I've acquired an HPT and I'm gonna go BYT, Not sure what the actual improvement will be, but here's hoping it'll give me more power. Mounts on the way and tires in my closet. Next year I'm hoping for a better run.
College wednesday nights so I can't practice at the track anymore.
