I only have 3rd hand experience. I don't know the whole story either, but 2 Colorado LNFs broke their axels at the track using these tires.
I wouldnt say slicks "and" drag radials. I would use "or". Theyre very different tires. I would also say its the driver that snaps axles. Not the tires. But with that being said the tires play a part in putting the driver in a position to break something in combination in how the driver launches.

To elaborate on that.. Launching one way on slicks may work just fine. Launch that same way on a drag radial or street tire and youre looking at trouble. And once youre in trouble its up to the driver to know what to do. Street tires are the worst. Drag radials are okay. Slicks are great. Its a combination of the traction and the soft sidewall with the slicks that save axles. But with the traction comes more force on the clutch when it engages sooner/quicker/more aggressively.

As far as lsj goes... Hpt limit 1st gear boost 0-50% from 4k-redline. Hold at 2500-300, let out smooth, give it hell, and go.

I'm not saying that is the best way, but works well for me on street tires. I been practicing after last CED....
