My '08 Cobalt SS/TC 1/4 Mile Runs
Hey guys. I took the car to Cayuga today and had a blast. I managed to get 6 runs in before it got ridiculously busy. All things considered I was very happy with my results.
Weather/Time:
I raced from 8:00pm-9:30pm. It wasn't too humid outside and the temperature was in and around 24 Celsius (75 Degrees).
The Car:
-2008 Sport Red Tint-Coat Cobalt SS/TC, black interior, LSD, Sunroof, OnStar, XM radio.
I lowered the front tire pressure to approximately 27 psi. The car has 1500kms on it and was broken in wisely in my opinion (letting the car see revs but not abuse). The spare tire was kept in the trunk, nothing removed, yada yada yada, it's a bone stock SS/TC and I didn't touch anything but the front tire pressure. There was 1/2 a tank of gas in the car, 91 octane from Petro Canada.
Traction control was turned OFF for all of the runs. I did NOT use launch control on any of the runs.
Here are the 6 times in order from worst to best ET:
14.284@101.91mph, 60'=2.279
14.215@101.65mph, 60'=2.306
14.186@101.61mph, 60'=2.230
14.183@102.10mph, 60'=2.299
14.153@102.16mph, 60'=2.239
14.118@102.01mph, 60'=2.266
Well that's that. Here are the pictures of my solo trip to the track plus the time slips. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks everyone.
The clean car when I got it, just for comparison to the trip.

Leaving home to go to the track.

On the road to the track.

Ready to run.

Tire pressure

Nice night. Waiting in line.

Some bikes.

Met the guy in the red Mazdaspeed3, stock, best run of the night was 14.3@99 I believe

3rd and 2nd best times

Best run of the night

I'm sure a few people have hit 13's stock, I mean I know its possible. But then again the people that have either havent posted about it or arent on this website. I dont even think Hahn ran down the 1/4 mile stock. A 2.2 60' for a FWD car like the Cobalt is pretty damn good, and I'm not sure if you can really get any lower. I mean I'm sure you can, but it would take alot of work.
nice times man. You car has the best top end I've seen from a ss/tc yet. 23/24 mph in the back half is really good for stock. I'm kind of surprised that the mazdaspeed didn't run so well, I figured it would pick up at least 1mph in the quarter with lighter wheels, and you can tell that his wheels obviously aren't stock.

All of my slips has a different car # and I have no idea why. I have 5, 596, 5, 570, 1, and 511. Anyone ever had this issue before? I've had cut off slips, overlapping numbers etc, but never this.
Meh, doesn't matter to me really, after each run I picked up the slip and ran 14.1-14.2 all night.
I also went to Cayuga with a friend on Wednesday last week. The car #'s were perfect each time. At around 9pm though there was a city wide black out so I kept my receipt and they let me come back Friday for free since the power didn't come back on that day. Maybe the numbers were f***ed because of the blackout, maybe because on Wednesday there were only 10 cars and Friday had over 70, no idea.

If you turn off traction control then launch control will NOT be on. If you press the button a second time, you will go into Competition Mode and launch control will be on. For launch control to work you have to have the clutch in and throttle to the floor, at which point the revs will hold around 5000rpm.
Yeah with this car and the power it has, I would never launch from more than 3k. When my Wife had her Celica GTS, I could launch around 4500-5000 and be fine, but it was running a turbo or anything.
