My First Time....At the Track ;)

Well last friday I went to the track the very first time in any car. I never been to the track to watch any races especially to run my car.

So me and a bunch of friends decided to go. They asked me if I was going to run my car at look at my girl and she goes if you want to, I was like ok yeah I will give it a try.

I was nervous when we got there because I did'nt know what to expect or what to do. I did'nt know the whole christmas tree thing because I never really seen a drag race. Luckly I bumped into to a really good buddy of mine and I asked him what to do so he gave me a quick lesson which to me I was still unsure of what was going to happen.

I guess the week before the track had redone the track so they wanted fresh rubber on the track, so they had a FREE Nite I was upset about it because I would have liked to have gone to the free nite instead of having to pay but oh well you can't win them all

anyways back to the story I was the last car to run and I did'nt run against anybody. I was suppose to run against another SS/SC a friend of mine because it was also his first time, but it did'nt happen like that. It did give me a chance to see the cars in front of me race in front was a 02 mustang racing a crx. The crx took it.

As I came up to the line I didnt know if I should have burned out my tires a bit I came up to the line I took off when the light turned green. I was to nervous that I revd to high and my tires kept spinning.
Well here are my numbers

R/T ... .283
60 ... 2.927
330 ... 7.841
1/8 ... 11.394
MPH ... 69.02
1000 ... 14.445
1/4 ... 16.971
MPH ... 89.96

Your 60 Ft is what Killed you, try starting out by launching at 2000 RPM and half throttle until about 40km/h, then step on it... you will get less wheel spin for sure.

AVOID THE WATERBOX, don't try to burnout and heat up those P-Zeros.

Don't get discouraged. It's all about practice.

If it makes you feel better the first time i went to the track after I built my motor in my old mustang I ran a 15.0 w/ a 2.8 60ft spinning half way down the track and missing 2-3rd.

DUDE You should be running WAY better than that! How many miles are on your car? Man Bakersfield is like 100 ft elevation too, not dissing you, but try pushing your car a little more. I ran 15.18 my first time with my car.

I hate the 2-3 shift. I missed it for like the first 3 or 4 times I went through the gears on mine. Oh well havent ever missed it again. "knock on wood"

did you not read the post at all?

first time at track (a pretty much unprepped track if they just did a free rubber night, so traction sucked) plus your talking about a Chica doing something she has never done..
i think she did a pretty damn good job.. my chick friends woulda bitched out..

just keep practicing and you will improve.. next time out you will probably drop in the high 14's with just a couple runs.

work on yor 60' times.. just practice getting good runs from redlights going up to about 40 and **** like that..

it was the first time at an unprepped track... not what anyone would EVER consider a good time, but don't let that discourage you... everyone starts somewhere... keep at it, and you'll get much better...

Here is a little bit of racer knowledge for ya. For every .1 you take off your 60 foot, you drop .15 off your 1/4 mile time. Its not worth arguing over, its proven! So, if you had been able to pull a 2.2 short time (which you will with practice) that run would have been a 15.9 which means either (1) you werent driving nearly hard enough and light shifting or (2) you were just nervous and not really at full throttle the whole way.

Whatever happened, it dont matter, what does matter is if you enjoyed it and go back to better yourself.

Also a piece of racer knowlage, for every 100 lbs. you take off the car it comes out to about .1 off your 1/4 ET
