Talking New best time and most exciting race so far

Well, I took the Balt out to the strip again and got a new best of 13.81@102.xx with a 2.21 60 ft. I forgot the exact mph b/c I LOST THE DAMN SLIP! Geez, my best run to date and I can't find the freaking thing (I know, likely story - "I ran so fast, but I don't have the time slip" lol). Oh well, at least I remember the ET.

Now, the most fun I've ever had in a drag race was my first run of the night (ran a 13.90). I was in the staging lanes, creeping close to the front, and they line me up with this clean, white foxbody Mustang GT. He has at least exhaust and it sounds goooood. I saw some pretty big tires on the rear, probably drag radials because he did a good burnout. I looked over through the smoke and thought, "Oh boy, I've definitely got my hands full and I might get totally smoked here".

We stage and I can hear his exhaust thumping even with my windows up. The adrenaline starts to flow as the yellows light up 1, 2, 3-gogogo!!! I fight the urge to slam the gas pedal to the floor, got a decent launch and I got a slight jump on him at the light, but in the blink of an eye, the 5.0 launches with a roar and rockets a good half car ahead of me. I don't get any wheelhop through first and get a great 1-2 shift as I reel him in and slowly pull a half car ahead.

Shift to third, his front bumper is at my door and he gains slightly as I make the 2-3 shift. I pull back slightly as we're screaming towards the timers; I have the gas pedal mashed hard to the floor like I'm trying to put a hole in the firewall, and I fly through the traps with about a half a car on him and see the win light on my side light up. Wow! That was fun! That was the most fun I've ever had in a race. I LOVE close races and this was the closest I've had so far.

I never got a chance to talk to the guy to see what he had done, but I ran a 13.90@101.54. I wasn't pulling at the end, so he probably trapped about the same as me (we don't get to see the other person's timeslip - they cut it in half, lol.)

On another note, Zed and I saw a totally badass Balt at the track, I'll give him the honor of telling everyone about it and he has pics from his camera phone. Also met a guy with a red SS/SC and a guy with a silver Redline. Cool guys.

I can tell you right now his trap wasnt as high as yours.i bet it was only 96-97 tops
because he got you on the launch, his sixty was a 1.8 or 1.9 Im guessing.I had a very
simalar race with a fox also.He ran a 13.8 and I ran a 13.9 but I had him in top end.
Good times also.

I think Mike must of scared off that Mustang cause we never saw him again after that run...

The full drag Cobalt SS that I have pics of ran an 8.02 at 168.xx mph... I talked to one of the guys that was giving it a tow and he said it had a small block 400 and the best its run ON MOTOR was a (BIG GULP HERE) 7.80 1/4 MILE !!! I'll post pics hopefully tomorrow when I get them transfered from my phone...Oh this SS was RWD by the way...

The other red SS in street trim spun in 1st and second and finally calmed down in third to run a 15.7 at 99.xx mph...said it was his first time at the track...

I on the other hand can't launch or drive for **** and only ran a 14.11 @ 100.2 mph cause I was so surprized I was actually pulling on Mike that I hit the rev limiter in 1st AND 2nd...while looking out the window at his car. I pulled the best sixty foot driving this car of 2.15 and then completely screwed up the run...best trap was 102.10 w/ a damn good headwind...The stiffy works !!!

Okay, yeah, I'm not too good at guessing what other people are running I just assumed since neither of us was pulling for the last 1/4 or so of the track that the trap speeds would be similar...yah learn something new every day

Stealth, it would have been fun if you had yours out there too, then we would have had a Redline and 5 SS's, including the wicked 8-seocnd one

Zed, we need another rematch, where we both get a good launch Get those pics posted! Btw, you don't happen to remember what I did with my 13.81 timeslip do you? I was carrying that thing around like a damn trophy and now I don't know what the hell happened to it. I was planning to show it to everyone Oh well

Ha! I found the missing timeslip! I don't know how I didn't find it last night, but I went driving today and after I parked, I looked down at the floorboard and it was just sitting there in plain view Maybe when I left last night and the windows were down, it blew up under the dash somewhere and today when I had the heater on, it got pushed back down to the floor mat. So, my best time is 13.81 @ 102.17 with a 2.21 60 ft

Yeah I wanna go back to see if I can get that sweet sixty foot again and maybe this time get my head outta my ass and comlpete the run w/ no mistakes...

Hey Mike, I hear alot of people were pissed about their times that night and were saying the timers were off by about 3-4 tenths but we did have a 15 mph headwind that was forcasted to be only 5 mph...
