Well, I go down to KC to hook up with area47 and get a tune. It started out as problems. The wideband we had didn't work, it broke. And then my meth wasn't spraying, ******* boost activation switch is fucked up. So I rig up my little toggle switch that I had when I broke my first boost activation switch and finally, the tune flashed in works. Now unfortunately, there was no fine tuning. But whatever, I was just happy to have a tune.
So we then proceed to the track.
I hoped for close to 110mph trap speeds, but I guess my slicks are really that big. They much really kill my gear ratio. So I think my next set of mods is a new clutch (cause my stock one has to rest for over an hour between track runs) and a 4.45 final drive.
So I line up to do my shake down pass about 20min. after we get to the track, bad idea. Spun like a **** and 2nd slipped crazy hard, I had to get out of it completely and then get back into it once the rpms dropped all the way down.
Here's what the run looked like:
60' = 2.210
330' = 6.644
1/8 = 9.831
mph = 78.67
1000 = 12.504
1/4 = 14.734
mph = 101.62
So I was dissappointed that the first run was botched but I was happy to see a 23mph pick up in the back half. Previously, my car only picked up 20. After doing a ******* SWEET burnout, I launch at about 4K rpms and I spin pretty bad again. Not quite as bad as before, but still a lot more than I wanted. I was racing a mid 12sec camaro and he put a few cars between us. So I figured it was another botched run and I also thought the finish line was the display boards. I found out later that the finish line was a few more hundred feet past the boards. UGH. But, the run didn't turn out so bad.
So I let it rest for about an hour and I go to make my second pass. I put the slicks at 19psi.
Here's the 2nd run:
60' = 1.979 (not bad for spinning)
330' = 5.586
1/8 = 8.556
mph = 82.34
1000 = 11.139
1/4 = 13.318
mph = 103.80
VID!

WOW, I couldn't believe I had actually gotten that low of a time. Cause I spun pretty bad. So now area47 helped me a bit on my cooling and we had my pump and fans going while we waited for me to make another pass. Unfortunately, I waited about an hour and a half and my battery died. LOL. So after getting the car jumped (embarrasing), I proceed to make another pass. I lower the slicks to about 17psi and do another John Force burnout (not really). I pull up to the line and launch at just over 5Krpms, damn, it spins again. But I stay in it and ride the quarter all the way out this time.
Here's the 3rd and final run:
60' = 1.952
330' = 5.531
1/8 = 8.484
mph = 82.47
1000 = 11.059
1/4 = 13.231
mph = 104.08
VID!

Pretty good. I knew I could probably get a 12 if the damn track was prepped. There was plenty of HIGH hp cars there not getting good traction. I learned that they didn't prep the track on Wednesday night grudges. Damn, well, I decided not to break the car (the clutch wasn't very happy) and I decided to pack it up and go home. I'll come back on a better day with better track prep.
Overall, it was a fun time. I learned some stuff from area47 and I also got to see what my car was capable of (at least on a unprepped track). I really do think I can hit a 12, but it will take a hard launch on a sticky track. Like I said earlier, I think clutch and a 4.45 gear is my next mods.
Anyways, for those that wanted to see 12's, sorry. I just didn't have the trap speed. 26" tall slicks were killing my gear ratio. I didn't bother to take the back seats and passenger seat out either, that may have been all I needed, but I didn't really care. I was happy with what I got. I didn't break the car and I had a good time. I also met a couple of other cobaltss.net guys there. One was a ls cobalt that was all kitted out running low 16's and the other was a cobalt ss supercharged with just a CAI and he finally broke into the 14's.
Anyways, there it is.
Oh, btw, I'll have the 2 13sec vids up tomorrow along with all 3 slips! It's after 2am right now, so I'm going to bed.
BTW, the Custom mildly ported single pass manifold worked great with all my other cooling mods. In the staging lanes, I was hovering about 104IAT's and at the top of 3rd on that run, my IAT's were 113.
Later on the way home, I logged a 3rd gear pull on the interstate, started at 88 and didn't go over 104.
Pretty good with a 2.9 pulley.
wow, no comments.

thanks man. And good luck!
My sixties probably would have been better if they would have prepped the track. It probably didn't help that there was probably a little dew on the track also. It got down to about 50 degrees last night.

Yea that killed you then. Looking forward to the vids.
very nice runs man.
I, too, need a clutch like you would not believe. I beat my car too much, the clutch is worn, and too much torque for it's worn ass to handle. 1st is a slow process, almost pointless, 2nd is becoming more pointless, and third grabs with some hesitation. I can only drive my car normal now.
So, I definitely know how much that can effect it. Get a new clutch and you'll get damn close to the 12's.

I'll be honest. I'm a little dissapointed as well. But, I'm going to blame it on 2 things. One being the slicks, just makes my gearing too tall. 2, being the fact that we didn't have a wideband and we didn't tweak the tune area47 gave me at all. I think with a few tweaks here and there, I could have picked up a few mph.

The gearing sucks in these cars (the 1-2 shift). What injectors are you using, the 42's?
Not too shabby of a run. My best to date was a 13.9@105 with 3" pulley and 42's. I had the torque damper but that didn't really do **** at the track. Hopped all of 1st gear and some of 2nd
Also stock wheels and tires suck ******* at the strip. I couldn't get below a 2.2 60' the entire night
But not too shabby. I need to get some slicks and see what I can really do with a good launch.

I know. lol, I was giddy. I was trying to get that 12. But I think I'm going to hit the dyno, maybe tweak the tune a tad and then go back on a night when they have good prep. I'm confident the car has a 12 in it with the mods I have. I have to admit, those 1.9 sixties felt great finally.
Honestly though, I never thought I would see the day that I complained about spinning and still cut a sub 2.0 sixty. LOL.
Congratulations
When I saw your pictures about the single pass mod you made, I was in shock cause I was thinking about that **** when I was installing my dual pass... I was goin damn... but so much work lol.
1.9 60' and a 13.2 @ 104... On a 2.9 and slicks... damn nice man (I couldn't break into the 13s due to heat soaking issues last I went. but thats been resolved)
Are you shooting meth/water into the intake manifold? I've been shooting an m3 nozzle(soon to be m6) directly into the intake manifold on a 2.7 pulley w/ the option b, cobra, and dual pass endplate. Last I went out tuning, I saw a max temp of 144 IAT2 in 4th gear at WOT at night in mid 60* weather.
