Ralli, how do you launch with the slicks? I just went to the track and got one good launch with my slicks. I pulled a 2.15 60' but only did that once. Rev'd up to 4K and "sort of" dropped the clutch. What's your clutch foot doing during the launch? (ie dumping clutch or playing it) I know you can rev higher on the launch with slicks opposed to radials, but I'm just looking for a little more on how to take advantage of the slicks. I usually bog.

What do you guys think about running these? I know they are a road race type tire, but have a soft compound.

you aren't going to find slicks that fit 17" wheels for a cobalt. They are just too tall man. Not going to happen. You'd have to run a drag radial, and i think it's just too risky for wheel hop.
Best bet for ss/sc owners is to get some 16's and use those hoosiers I posted up.
For ss/tc owners, you are stuck with drag radials, or you can swap to smaller ss/sc brakes and then get 16's so you can use slicks.

so has anybody tried to fit 15" wheels on the SS/SC? I have a site that makes custom steelies and all you do is send them all sorts of dimensions of you hub, caliper, etc. Just wondering if anyone else has done it yet so i dont have to go through the trouble. Theres a lot more options for slicks on a 15" wheel than there are for 16"s lol

For the LNF guys that wanna run a full out slick such as myself
Mickey Thompson 3221 tire
Yes its a Motorcycle tire but it has no problem working on a car
But make sure its the 3221 it is a load rated tire
I run them on my car on a Fast Salsa 17 " rim and no spacer is required

well whats the section width. with a 10" tread width you're getting into the territory of needing a 8" to 8.5" wheel. and anything past about 10.5" section width i'd run a spacer on my 555r's, 9.8" width, i've got about half an inch of clearance from the inside of the tire to the coilover

you happen to have any pics of them, with slicks on and stock wheels on? How do the lugs fit with the extended studs, you have to get new lugs? One last thing lol, what size are your wheels for the slicks? Cuz I've heard if you run spacers and use 15" wheels you wont have to shave down the caliper.

you'll need open ended lugs with a bit that goes on the outside, not ones that require a giant alan key that goes in the middle and then attaches to a breaker bar. you'll need to shave the calipers with 15s regardless of a spacer or not. its the top of the caliper that needs to be shaved, not the side. right now i'm running a 26x11.5x16 ET street but once my 15s are made i'll be dropping down to a 26x10x15 hoosier, same tread width though
