DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT so im stage 2 and I did worse tonight than when I didn't have this thing installed. I HATE FIREBIRD. First I can't catch any traction while granny driving and second I get about half way through after a power shift before I catch any traction at all. im so ******* pissed off it isn't funny. Maybe I shoulda just drove like I was carrying water in a bucket trying not to spill. Don't get me wrong stage 2 is a lot more powerful but at a place like fireturd it can't be proven at all

About 5 minutes after you left, they started running again and most cars were .5-1 second faster.

dude we ALL need to race at the strip. I know tom wanted to run but seriously each time I go im the only one running. Next time I go I aint running unless someone has purchased their race ticket first and has completed the paperwork in the tec area. It's so boring going alone.

We had a blast, but only a little luck. I think it was more fun to cruise around after the fact. We were up to 135mph or so at one point before we saw cops and that was fun. The track was moving too slow that night.

For friday the second, it was so hot the track felt like there was water on it. They didnt prep it at all or very good. I had no wheel hop at all, which is a good thing. It also didnt help that water was being pulled onto the track by the people with treaded tires rolling through the water box. I watch that happen numberous times. Tips for racing firebird when not preped, do not go through the water box, do not drop the clutch (you will definately spin badly), launch about 2500 (may be different with the cobalt, just find the rpm that best suits your driving style) rpm and play with throttle (may need to get used to it, again do not spin tires), do clean the tires before each run (small little burnout neccesary to clean tires, tires will pick up debris on the way back to staging lanes), and the most important keep the car cool when it is hot (ecotec engines tend to heat soak easily). I hope this helps, looking forward to seeing more gm small car representation at the drags. Look for the red cavy w/ silver stripes june 16. I will be there, as well as a few more jbodies. A couple, if they do go are supercharged. Im looking to improve my 16.183@86.98 in my nearly stock 04 cavalier, I should beable to do it this friday. If you want to come say hi.

I find the best launch to just leave the line like a grandma and slowly roll into the throttle after the car gets rolling. I also avoid the water box and don't do anykind of burnout. avoiding tire spin is my goal and has resulted in a 14.7, but that was in Nov. or Dec. Last time I want I had a bad time shifting and my best time was 14.8 or 14.9 I can't remember.

And I admit, that may be the best for the SS/SC. I have tried that, with my serious lack of power compared to your car, and it didnt work for me. Constant 16.5-16.7s at low 84 mph.

Thats what i tried first and could only get 15.3 or 15.0.
launching at 1800 i had little wheel spin once it hooked
i nailed it and got a 14.9. im still trying to figure it out.

It's hard. On the street I don't have as many problems with traction but we aqll know the track makes it worse.

my performance with stage 2 was horrid. I had absolutely no traction through most of first and some of 2nd. I think tire pressure will be the key for me in my situation. This next time we go im gonna do 24pounds instead of stock 32. After one of the guys with the top fuel racers talked to me what he said made a lot of sense after the words sank in this weekend.

so who is going ou this weekend? We are. And i am just volunteering steve, he should be off work earlier this week in time to get a few more runs in. But it was good to see some more cobalts out there last week as compared to some others.

Everyone just remember to wear some pants.
