Poll: DR's vs. Slicks
IMO, they belong in the same thread. Reason being, each car is modded differently as per their drivers/owners preferences. The same goes with slicks v. drag radials. People just have different opinions. Just like the LNF guys prefer turbo and the LSJ guys prefer sc. And, before the LNF guys jump in about how they can't run slicks, they will find a way if they really want them that bad. Each car has its benefits and its downsides, especially when it comes to tuning, modding, and racing. Slicks v drag radials are a part of that equation.
They shouldn't be different because in drag radials alone there is a huge difference, you have your standard BFG or Nitto, and then you have your Hoosier and MT Et Streets, which belong in a different class then the standard radials.

This change has been added to the top 10 thread due to popular vote.
IMO though, whatever morons voted "no" should be banned for stupidity.

i have drag radials. there called drag radials and thats what the order said and the sticker when i got them. would you call them drag radials or cheater slicks? the company calls them drag radials so to me there drag radials cause there d.o.t. and i can drive around on them daily.
Hoosier drag radials are technically drag radials, as they qualify for street classes, and you can say you have drag radials, but they are almost a slick, and certainly different then the BFG or Nitto tires, so if your going to separate radials and slicks, you need to decide what to do about tires like that, and the M&H Cheater Slicks for example.

Just because it's DOT legal doesn't mean it's safe to drive on. I bias ply tire isn't a radial tire, even if the company calls it that.
Hoosier DOT drag radials are slicks.
it didn't matter to me, but hatrickstu whined about it. So I told him to make a poll. As per the poll, we now have them separate.

DOT legal doesn't mean that it's ok to drive on the street. that's more of a class thing at the track. It keeps you from being upped a class since they are DOT legal. NO, don't call me right now. I'm just taking a break from painting the kitchen.
lol no more calls for you. you no like hearing my voice anymore
ralli, you're right. most DOT track tires aren't meant to be driven on the street. period. HOWEVER. because they are dot rated...they aren't a slick. the bracket class i race in at the local track is DOT TIRE ONLY. NO SLICKS. but i've seen many hoosier dot radials, M/T ET Streets, and many other tires that are so close to being a slick its rediculous. but because they're DOT rated....they aren't a slick.
doesn't matter what they're contructed of. if its labeled as a radial...its a radial. if its labeled as a slick...its a slick. m&h "cheater" slick=radial...its dot rated. very highly not recomended to be street driven. but its rated.
thats just my oppinion on it. ...and also many tracks as well.

Bias ply is a slick. end of discussion.
