Proper launch ss/tc

Ok I'm ready to take her to the track what's the best way to launch? I raced my gf in her 09 mustang gt and instead of popping the clutch I eased off then mashed the pedal after I started rolling a little and I smoked her. But just curious to how everyone else races from a dig? To get the least tire spin as possible. I probably sound like a noob so if you're just gonna talk **** don't even post anything. I'm used to trucks not stick shift race cars, you gotta start somewhere!

I slip the clutch too until it grabs and let er rip from there. If there's a water box there and you can't avoid it, get on the edge of the water box and do a light spin to throw the water off. Your first couple runs you might spin the tires and if you do, just lower the tire pressure until the hook good enough. My street tires were worthless even with 10lbs in the front. My nt05s hook amazingly good at 18lbs of air.

Don't expect to be a pro your first run. These cars take a while to get used to the launching part. Just have fun with it.

Exactly what you you said about easing into it, Launch control is nice on these cars but at the same time sucks cause all you do is spin.

Haha. Launch control sucks at the strip, but its a little different when it comes to street. Traction completely off is the best though. I drive with it off all the time and it feels so much better once you get the hang of instead of just roasting the tires.

Yea do what these guys said and easy off the clutch till you catch. Then most likely your have to peddle it a little bit in 1st. Because I don't think not spinning is an option unless of course you have DR's. Good Luck!

I find that reving her at about 2000-2300RPM Locking down the Ebrake and letting out the clutch slip a bit to put some load on the tires keeps it consistent on street tires. Light goes green drop the ebrake and easy onto the gas. At least i blow the tires off less th is way.

Not that im getting epic 60Fts but i am consistent

I found that launching n the street with street tires is way easy and has me at better 60fts then at the track.. Our track is so damn sticky it's a whole other ball game.

It's hard to explain how to launch it. Much easier to show someone in person. Wish I would have made a video of the tach and foot work. I have pulled many 2.00 60' times on the stock tires and even an all season tire. A key is not only the slipping of the clutch and progressive gas pedal movement but how the tune is set up. If you have it set up for 100 percent in first I will just say good luck. I had first gear set at 50-60 percent and that's it.

I thought you had a video of some footwork up before? i rem trying to imitate it with half the amount of torque an no other track prep lol.

wouldnt you want to launch your car where your horsepower and torque curves are closes to each other. Yes this does involve a dyno sheet.

You ran a 13.4 and trapped 112 with a a GMS1 tune? I call BS. I want a video showing proof. I converted my car to GMS1 myself 4 years ago and there is no way that my car would have trapped more than 104 with it. The best I have seen is 106 in that is with a negative DA at the track.

^^ this guy tuned me. My car is far faster at the drag strip now. He cut a ton of torque out of first gear and that helped considerably. I'm still only launching at 1200 to 1500, slipping the clutch and still have a ton of wheel spin, but it's better than before Term worked on it.

Yeah, that trap is pretty crazy for that tune, lol. The 13.4 is believable, though.

do you know what percent tq your running in second? From what I hear 50-65% seems best in first, but I'm curious as to what most people run second at. I'll be experimenting a bunch this summer with AutoX coming up (which is all 2nd) but its nice to get a good starting point to work off of.

what tires and size are you on too?
