The Cobalt should have the TC fairly easily. I think supercharged TC with TRD maps and plugs and everything else are running 14.2-14.4's. Which is impressive from stock being 15.5+ but shouldnt really hang with a SS/SC very well...

I dont think there TRD Supercharger is intercooled. Which ssssuuuccckkkksss for performance. I've ridden in my friends N/A Tc and its a good riding vehicle...I like it alot. Just not the fastest thing on the road...

doesn't the supercharger only add like 40 horse power? i think it bumps it up to like 200 hp, at the crank, not wheels... shouldn't be much of a challenge at all...

I don't know about the TRD you ran against, but the one I ran against at the track lost. I ran a 14.7 bone stock without launching and he couldn't even break into the 14's while lowering the front tire pressure and launching as hard as possible. It was also during December so heat was not much of an issue.

yea there is no way a trd blown tc is running low 14's. those cars are slow as ***** stock or with that blower.

Actually I think they only run 5psi or 8psi on the stock TRD. There is a turbo TC running 17psi putting down 427whp and making 12 second passes on stock internals.

Where does he live, if he is in AZ I could prove him wrong.

There is a guy that lives here in my apartment complex that has a Greddy Turbo Kit on his tC, and he dyno's 245whp. That's almost as much wheel hp as they rated the kit at the crank. I think you would need a nice tune on a Stage 3 for a cobalt to get there. So that could be some good competition.

On the other note I saw another kid a year ago at the track with a custom turbo tC with 8psi running 14.6 at best.

Sadly they only go from ~165bhp to 200bhp with the blower. That means about 175whp with the blower.

ummm i'm hoping I missunderstood your comment about the 245 whp dyno'd because a stage 2 balt or RL with no other mods should push out 245 WHP ... so I'm assuming you meant 345 because that would take a good tune, some nitrous and a slew of other mods..

their SC kit is pretty pathetic... I was looking into getting a tc before I bought my 2.4 they were boasting the 160HP so much and the dealer was like for even more power you can buy a supercharger kit and bring it to 200-220 HP and still have the factory warranty... and then i asked how much 4500 and i'm not sure if that was installed

then I went to saturn because I knew they had a used tc on the lot.. test drove my 2.4 and the tc.. 2.4 road nice i like the body styling better and it had better pickup... hell with full bolt ons and a good tune you can get to what the supercharged tc does... people are making 175-185WHP with 2.4s and they probably spent much less money on the upgrades...

Well we are talking about a supercharged TC right? Turbo is neither here nor there. But they cant run alot of boost without an intercooler (compressing air = heat). And the max I've read with a VERY limited TC experience was 10 PSI from the TRD supercharger...

I agree...I'm putting down close to 250whp with my mods and the GM stage 2 tune. Some of the turbo kits are over hyped though too. I know about the greddy kit for tc's cause I sell turbo kits for some of those cars and thats one of them...lol

Sorry 424. I found the post I made a while back straight from the magazine.

I have a magazine with an article on a company just installing a turbo and an IC, I/H/E, and computer tuning on the tC and wound up with 424 whp @ 6,150 and 376 lb-ft @ 5,400 with 17 psi of boost. With 15 psi they ran a 12.09 @ 113 mph. The car they happen to be testing at the time could only handle 17 psi. (The article said they had run it at 20 psi but at 18 psi and up the head would float. I'm not sure if they meant the actual head or just the valves.)

^^^

Still pretty bad. TC's are alot lighter then my car and hes running similar times with 100+ more HP. Probably quite a few traction issues too...
