99.353 trap speed and still only 14.809 does that seem right?

I ran a 14.1 in my car and only traped 97.77 MPH with a 2.3 60ft.

 

yea I didnt even get on it off the line because last time I did it just wheel hopped through second gear. what I was wondering was if the trap speed could determine what the car could poss. do. cause my brother ran a 14.0 @100mph with his 240sx

 

60ft Time was slow, as they all said. Are you stock? Stock my best 60' time was a 2.29.
Ran a 14.50 & 98. Your not gonna get any better then a 14.4-14.5 stock.

 

ive got the airbox mod and a straight through exhaust w/no muffler I wanna get 14.3, not saying I will but still gives me a goal and honestly see it poss. then im going to get intenses kit if gms isnt out yet!

 

With a 2.2 60ft that run would have been a 14.2 roughly, all you have to do is practice, make sure your tire preasure is around 25psi or less, see what works for you.

 

on my last run i droped my tires to 20psi and had a good launch but it seemed to slow me down top end. im thinking of getting some g6 wheels with some sort of street slick or something. ant suggestions?

 

yea in my ss/sc i traped 98.7 and ran 14.5 60 ft was 2.560 and my girlfriends ss/sc i took her car to the track and it ran 14.2 at 96.4 60 ft was 2.012 i was pissed

 

Honestly I would suggest drag radials for the track, get a set of BFG Drag Radials and you wont be dissapointed, only problem is trying to find the correct size wheel. Do you mean the 16" G6 wheels?

The tire companies give recommended tire pressures for a reason, BECAUSE THAT IS THE LEVEL THAT TRACTION IS BEST!!! Why in the world would they recommend a tire pressure that would not be optimal for traction??? come on guys common sense... yes a few pounds would help slightly but you dropped them to 20??? thats idiotic on a tire with a recommended pressure of 50psi. Dont believe me? I run consistent 2.2-2.3 60 foot times with a best of 2.24, on guess what... 45PSI!!! come on guys lets get with it

WTF??? 50 psi!!!! Holy ****! what are you thinking! open your driver door, look at the inside door well and it said that for 225/45/18 that the tire pressure should be 32psi! NOT 50! And no they tire companies dont give you a recommended PSI for traction That is for everyday driving. That is the best psi for tire wear and safety

 

Ah good ol english town i see. FSbiker biker from formation ran a 14.3 stock with a 2.2 60 ft same trap as yours.

 

Gotta slip for that one buddy I'll call your bluff. Trap is way to low for that 14.2 your claiming in a cobalt. What was your 1/8 mile times? Seems like you got slower as the race went on but you still pulled a 14.2. usally the cobalt starts to shine later in 1/4 mile than in the beginning. But than again Everyone from texas seem to do amazing things on this forum.

 

Your right man, i was thinking of the tires i just sold, haha, but still 20psi is still way to little for a 32psi tire. but you are wrong man that is the optimal psi for traction as well, based on your theory you might as well just run 1psi in the damn tires

 

Have fun running 50 lbs on your tires bud. and as runing them at 20 psi did help i dont know why you think 20 is like runing them with no air? and yes i was talking about the 16" g6 wheels cause its really hard to find something with this offset without spending a ton of dough!

 

just to give some reference, i dropped my 60ft. dramatically with dropping my tire pressure. the track here on guam is unprepped unlike the states. they don't use vht or anything. so the only traction you get is with slicks, even radials don't hardly get traction. i was pulling 2.7-2.9 60fts. with goodyear eagle rs-a's on my ralliart, i lowered to 20psi and i get very consistent 2.4's now with an occasional 2.3

it's really hard to get any traction especially on all season tires, but they said they are going to be spraying vht down soon so maybe i'll cut a 2.1-2.2 and get a better time.

 

dude i just said that i was thinking of a pair of different tires and wheels that i i sold, not even for a cobalt, so read before that smart ass comment. and im still sticking with my opinion on the PSI issue. just like how all there is always the ******* on street tires here racing that thinks by dropping his PSI substatially and doing a huge burnout to get his tires really hot he will have an amazing 60 foot, oh wait you prolly thought a huge burnout was appropriate to

You make more smart ass comments than almost everyone around here, so I don't know what your problem is...


A far as getting traction, poly control arm bushings along with a poly motor mount will do more than any set of rims and tires. our biggest traction problem is wheel hop. Wheel slip can be controlled much easier and you can still move foward while peeling out. If you are wheel hopping you might as well be driving backwards. A new set of tires and rims might help the wheel hop a little bit, but the poly mounts will all but kill it. THEN you can think of getting a new set of rims and tires, but I'd wait untill you get the Intense kit or some other serious power package. Hell, look at tofu. That fool ran a 13.8 with a 2.0 60ft on the stock tires and stock rims. Why...because he changed some of his mounts to poly. Also, if you did manage to cut something like a 2.0-2.2 60ft with that 100 mph trap, that woulda been damn close to a 13.0 sec run.

Oh yeah, please, for god man, sake put a muffler on your car before the Payson run. Either that our you're riding in the back of the pack, that thing is intollerable.

 

are you talking about my muffler? i really hope you arent considering you have never heard it. and what kind of math are you doing to get a 13.0 quarter mile trapping 100MPH with a 2.0-2.2 60 foot time
