hey, I'm just calling it like I see it. I've been to a slippery track as well. We got a 1/8th mile here that I went to on opening night, There were v8 cars hitting 3rd gear going sideways. There were literaly water spots all down the track. I was spinning my 10.5" MT Slicks not only off the line, but when I hit 2nd. It was as if I had street tires. But I still managed to run 8.90's @80mph all night.

For a first time at the track, I can understand. But it's not an impressive run at all. 14.9@100. Just let off the gas a little more when launching and when going into 2nd. You'd be surprised what backing off the gas a little would do. I'd bet on a mid 14.

its good my boy had wrx sti....and his best time was 14.5 and his highest trap was 89 mph it was his first time at track as well. He needed to practice on his launching and he missed some gears as well

try getting over yourself first.

he was saying that he thought his time was pretty darn good for his elevation, and I was just trying to tell him that he trapped high enough for his e.t. to be quite a bit lower. I know it was his first time and all, but throttle control helps quite a bit when on street tires.

now that, is sad.

once again. you are basing your beliefs on math, and your own track experience.
you dont know this track, or this elevation.
or obviously how both of those things can effect times.
Its ok, people who are used to racing at decent DAs never really understand what its like when your DA is up over 3-4000 constantly.

just FYI, the fastest an ss/sc has ever ran stock in alberta is BARELY in the 14s, and thats in GOOD conditions, most run 15+, in fact many stage 2's run 15s.
heres a few more numbers to help you understand. Stock mustang GTs? 14s, stock stis? 14s, stock Z06s? 13s.
nothing runs times up here that you guys expect.

14.9 with the conditions we were in lastnight, with only a catback, is quite good.
theres more in it, no doubt, but hardly worth your comment.

but what would we know, we just race here.
youve got all the numbers.
did you consider the fact that his trap is likely inflated due to the amount of traction issues there were?
throttle control can only help so much when the track is glass.

but then, i forgot, you ran 8.9s on ice. so we must all just be rookies.

you stepped into this thread with a cocky smartass know-it-all attitude, and you had no idea of the facts.
Im not the one who needs to get over anything.

you are just acting like a fool now. He said he trapped 100mph. If he can trap that high, then he can run a mid 14 sec 1/4 with a crappy 60ft. barely breaking into the 14's with a trap speed that high isn't super awesome.

It doesn't matter what your DA was and all that other crap. What matters is his 100mph trap speed. DA takes an effect on your power and what not. But obviously he wasn't having a power problem with just a catback and trapping 100mph. What he was having a problem with was the driving part. I understand it was his 1st time and all, but if you were there with him, you could have tried to give him some pointers ya know.

he was there. I could have let him drive and I bet he wouldnt have got all that much more out of it on that night. My tires also werent slipping all that much, they were, but I had more wheel hop than anything. I was scared of breaking an axle. So it may have been a number of things, driver error near the bottom of that list.

Maybe if your wallet is as big as your mouth you can jump on a plane and fly here and I'll let you drive my car and then we'll see how much you talk.

jesus...

your lack of knowledge of what your talking about is showing.

you continue to rely on bench racing, and numbers to back up your smartass comment in your first post

DA doesnt matter, but his 100mph trap does?
you should avoid putting so much faith in racing on paper.
theres alot more to it than what his trap speed is.

his driving is an issue, he knows that, and if i didnt leave early i could have given him pointers....sure

but the fact still remains, 14.9 at castrol raceway, in very very glassy conditions, with only a catback, is a very respectable time.

bet you didnt know that this track was under a foot of snow about a week and a half ago.

just be careful who you critisize so ascerbicly next time. especially when your only going on a few numbers.

Whatever, you guys keep congratulating yourselves for a slow ass time. I'm tired of trying to be nice. I can see 110mph traps and a 14.0 in the future. And then a "oohh, aahhhh, He ran a 14.0 in glassy conditions." Quit making excuses, get some damn tires, and get some good times. 13's are completely possible with some sticky tires.

yea, but were they 245 all seasons, or an actual sticky tire, like kdw's. Ya know what, screw street tires, go get some slicks or radials. I got fed up with street tires when I went 14.4@101. So the slicks went on, along with meth and a tune, and wa la, 13.6@100 and that wasn't even beating on it.

I got pushed to the limit. I could care less about how everyone gets grumpy cause I don't think a 14.9 is respectable. Maybe if he trapped low 90's, I'd show some respect.

who cares what u think? i will never ever meet u, until u come up to alberta and race your car, therefore actually seeing how our tracks are/ how altitude affects your times, your comments are useless...

that's why I went. I wanted to see where the car stood before I install all my stuff.

Opening night is fun. If you go early you can get a nice low number for the rest of the year

altitude doesn't affect your times. It affects your trap speed. Driving affects your times. Silly canadians.
