Talking Went to the drag strip yesterday.... PERSONAL BEST!

So it was my first time back at the strip since last June. Track just opened last week and I thought I should test out my new tune and such.

It was Test and Tune at New England Dragway. Saw a lot of dedicated track cars and a couple street cars. Saw another Cobalt SS turbo coupe there. The guy was cool, didn't really get to talk to him much and didn't catch his name.

So when I got there I fooled around with some tire pressures and started to get back into how to drive this thing at the track. It took several runs but I started to get the hang of things again. FIrst run of the day I did a 14.xx at 109mph I was so pissed! But I knew it was me so I kept trying and finally came up with my best times....

My setup:
Everything in my sig.
I am running Continental DWS all-seasons (at 24psi for the track).

Everything else is stock.

I ran:
R/T- .815
60'- 2.198
330- 5.738
1/8- 8.489
MPH- 90.53
1000'- 10.839
1/4- 12.823
MPH- 113.92

I know if i run a stickier tire or even drag radials, this will be a consistant low 12's car. I just can't launch the damn thing

I have Nitto 555's waiting to go back on. So, I'll swap those on for next time and hopefully get my 60' down to a 2.0. With drag radials I could probably pop a 1.9-1.8.

I'm getting better at this

Thumbs up

WOW!!! I am so impressed with these motors........ just a couple of mods and BAM into the 12s...... I recently picked up a '04 SC'ed IRL as a DD, and currently have a '95 BMW M3 turbo but I used to have a '97BMW M3/4 that I had supercharger and it ran a 12.7 at 115 which I was pretty happy with at the time. It also set me back about $6,000 with all my mods...... But yeah I would have been Sooooo pissed off if I got beat on the street by one of these SS/TC. But on a race track it would be a totally different outcome...... (not the drag) Seeing this SS/TC put out that much power almost makes me want for my next DD......I would even think those TC HHR's

Yeah, these little cars can move

I was impressed with all the figures when I was looking around to buy a car. Coming from a GTO, it's hard to compare... there really is no comparison as they're two totally different cars... But the amount of power you can pull from these little LNF motors for such little money is absolutely amazing. It took a couple grand to get my GTO to the same times - 5.7 V8 power too. I spent... maybe $900-$1000 on my car IN TOTAL to get these numbers. And most of that was on the Tuning Software!

Just takes practice.... and a lot of slipping the clutch.

I hold rpm's at about 2800-3000 and then slip the clutch. I feel for traction and then just GO. I DO NOT NLS into 2nd and then I NLS into 3rd. Before, I use to ride out third all the way to 7000 rpm and across the line but I noticed the car drops off in a lot of power up there. SO, this time I NLS into 4th at 6000 rpm. Took me across at the 113.9, my highest trap ever.

Recap...
Slip clutch at launch at 3000 rpm.
shift regular into 2nd at 6800-7000 rpm
NLS into 3rd at 6000 rpm
NLS into 4th at 6000 rpm.

That's consistent high 12.'s for street tires for me. Might be different for you. Everyone does things different.

I stopped NLS 1-2 because all it would do is spiiiiiinnnn killing my time. I'm not too worried about anything breaking except the end tanks of my stock inercooler.

Also how are the tracks in MA

NED is all new surface this year, I hear it's all concrete now. That's got to help with grip.

Nice job with the times. Were you experiencing any cutout in third? If so it could have been COT, which can be tuned out.
