Went to the Track on Friday

Well I wanted to try the CSS out and see what it could do....

Keep in mind racing conditions weren't the best! 100+ degrees, and the track is right around 5800' above sea level. I also power shift. FYI I only see a smidge over 10# of boost up here.

First time trial run I launched around 2k and, well that didn't work out too well. I had wheel hop soo bad it wasn't even funny. Ended up getting a 2.6 60' and ran a 16.0 on that run.

2nd time trial run I took a little different approach and feathered the clutch at 1500 rpms and got a 15.633@90.3mph with a 2.3 60'. The launch had very little wheel spin and no hop at all. Needless to say it was an extremely conservative launch and ended up being my best run of the night.

Then it was competition time. So I dialed a 15.65 and went with it.

Over all it was pretty much 15.6's all night. I probably could have run a 15.4 in the second round with the slightly cooler weather and my best 60', but I wanted to win that round so I hit the brakes going into the traps pretty damn hard. I ended up getting a 15.82 @72mph.

I ended up going to the 3rd round. 1st and 2nd round I knocked out some mustangs, which was a good feeling, lol. But I lost in the 3rd thanx to the wonderful rev limiter .

I did however notice what I believe is a miss fire occasionally. The first time it happened was when pulling in second gear around 4000rpm. It just kinda stuttered for a second and then continued on it's way. This happened two other times as well only for a split second and both happened in 3rd. It's a totally random thing. I'll probably be taking it in to have them take a look at it.

Brian

Also met up with littleSS with his Black '06 SS/SC. His first run was a 17.XXX, but after trying a different launch he ended up getting a 15.60X. He had the goofyguy brace and still had a ton of wheel hop, so I'm not to sure if that's the way to go as of this time.

Check your plug gaps. You may also want to drop the gaps about .005" from stock. This is common with forced induction vehicles and is known as "spark blow out." The higher elevation may make this more pronounced (I dunno for sure). Either way it's a common problem with a simple fix.

Edit: You may also want to pick up some di-electrical grease and put a bit in the plug boots (both at the plug end and the coil end).

Just to give you an idea, on my SRT-4 when I was pushing 20psi on the stock turbo, I had my plugs gapped to about .035" With the big turbo pushing 20 to 28psi (20 = street tune, 28 = race tune) my plugs are gapped to .025"

Although I'm fully capable of checking this issue out myself, in a case like this I would rather have it checked out by the dealer to document the issue.

yea my first run bit it big time. but after talking to brian we figured out that 1500 seems to be the best the only difference between his and mine is i have the G85 option. I too am unsure about the tq brace i need to e-mail him as well and see what is going on. i know it does not completely eliminate it but i should help it out more than it is.

don't get me wrong it is a grewat product and i believe it will work well but the install on my behalf may not be correct.

The dealer will probably come back with "cannot duplicate symptoms". You guys will probably have to keep a good eye on plugs. Matter of fact right now I'm fighting spark blowout, gotta pull the gap down here a bit.
