Went to the Track Last night 2.2L

First run was a 16.8 with a 2.4 60' but i missed the power band on the launch. Next run was 16.6 with a 2.2 60'. Im at work now so those 60' may be different. Kinda dissapointed, convinced me not to get intake etc., just wait to trade it in. Think ill just race my cavalier next time.

Disapointing when you don't get what your after. The only advice I can offer is to try again--took me 3 times to the track to get my best but I think there s a little more eft in her.

What size are your rims? They are not helping if they are over 16" but hurting.

i got a 15.8 with a 2.4 60ft time....on a 3/4 tank of gas. all i have is the injen cai system....so i know you can do better than a 16.6. i love my intake it sounds great and you can feel more torque...plus once exhaust gets put on it will make a even bigger difference. i would say to go with the intake but hey...its your car.

this is an automatic right? if so are you torque braking and have you tried removing the traction control to let you do so more effinctly? my friends stock 2.2 auto ran a 17.1 in 94 degree weather but when he did the tb his trac control would hurt his launch.

this was manual, the 16.8 launch i fell below the power band, next launch i launched it at 3000, it gripped pretty well, should of launched a little bit lower, but it wasnt a BAD launch..., hit all the gears just before redline... ive been dragging since i was 16, all manuals, it concerns me that i ran a 16.3 in my saturn lol, 15.9 in my cavalier and now 16.6 =/, im sure theres room for improvement, but .6 seconds is alot of improvement, and again it was humid as hell.

if anyone cares, i raced a SRT-4 ran a 15.3 and a 350z which ran a 16.2, they both sucked at drivin, either that or the air just screwed everyone up

ok, bigger rims don't necessarily hurt you. he is pullin 2.2 60ft. times so that's pretty good. the 17" rim is actually letting him pick up a little more mph during his runs. so i'd say if you got a 16.6 w/ a 2.2 60ft. that's probably all your gonna do stock. maybe a 16.5 and just maybe a 16.4 pushin it real hard. but those times are still really slow.

bluelscobalt, i'm wondering how you did a 15.8 in an ls with just a cai. that's pretty impressive. where was this track at?

it was Rockingham in NC...it was about 50 degrees. i was pretty shocked myself...it was better than i thought it would be. i launched at about 2800 rpms... i don't think this makes that big of a difference but i put a vaccum hose in the bottom grill and ran it to where the intake filter is...so all that air gets rushed into it...the more air the better. it would make a bigger difference with exhaust..now i have all this air coming in and trying to squeeze out. i have some pics of it in the gallery...its just a lil bit of cheap horsepower.

my point exactly, i knew i did everything right, launching almost perfect, shifting perfect, i told my friend if theres room for improvement it would only be .1 or .2 of a second, thats alot in a 1/4 mile but if its not looking easy to get below the 16 mark i dont think im going to bother, who knows lol, may or may not.

I hit a 16.1 in a fully loaded LS Coupe on a one shot, never-driven-the-car-before deal. Full tire pressure, 3/4 tank of gas and spare tire in the trunk. with practise the car could be in the 15's. Keep practising, it will get faster.

2.2 ls sedan, manual, hmm practice and you can probably pull a 16 flat w/ an intake, practice makes perfect man, those 17's arent helping get some 16's on w/ some stickier tires, if u had the same tires on which are mostlikely helping you get those 2.2's and w/ the 16's w/ the same type of tires you would be getting better more consistant 2.2's and you wont loose speed at the end.

well dang man, ill tell you one thing that hurt your time...you shifted at redline. actually best to shift a lil bit before redline. about 5600 if you can. that way you get into your higher gears quicker cause after 5600 the power drops like mad
