what RPM do you shift at while racing?

what RPM do you shift at while racing?

i got a 06 cobalt ss sc whats the best rpm to shift at while racing ive always been used to just almost hitting redline but the other day i was seeing a video and he was shifting at lower rpms and hauled ass! im not to good with these things help thanks

also would help to say what, if anything is done to the car... i shift my SS/TC at 6200 just so i dont have to worry about taggin the limiter at 6320 and being denied a shift.

X2. I was at the track and i redlined 2nd then got locked out of 3rd. not good for ur times.

usually i shift close to redline though, from what i understand we make power till redline

Take it to redline would assume your set at 6,500 if you have no tune. If tuned i would say 7,200 max on a stock head. Dont shift early not gaining anything there but a slower ET

I set my shift light for 5900 by time I react I'm shifting slightly over 6-6.2k.

why not just look at the tach? shift lights cause you to either be late or early as most people are slow to react to it or anticipate it and get antsy.

I shift at around 7K (intercepter lights up). My limiter is set at 7250rpm.

My car makes peak power a little past 7K.

Also, it helps when going to the next gear. It puts me in the meaty section of my power curve

I prefer looking at the road tbh. Mostly I shift before or as its coming on anyways just cause you can feel the car kinda peter out above 5.5 anyways.

On the stocker I shift about 55-5800 and then run out third gear. Now I shift at like 75-7600.
