What RPMs to shift at for K04 LNF?

I did search. Sorry if this has been addressed already.

I know it differs depending on car and tune. Generally speaking I've looked at most of the dyno graphs for K04 LNFs and it looks like most people are making their highest HP around 5500-5700. Torque comes on sooner and it's just downhill from there. Aside from launching around 2200 rpms, I'm thinking that around 5600 rpms would be the best shift point for 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4.... but I've read that NLS doesn't work below 6K. (?)

Anyway, I'd love to see what tactic(s) you use for the 1/4 mi in an LNF from start to finish.

Thanks.

You can shift at 6k all the time. The one to two is hard to shift at a certain rpm because it's so fast. Depending on your trap speed and rev limit you can run out third. Yea you lose power but it's not as much as the time it takes to shift another gear. Unless you wot shift and can do it real good and fast.

So now I see that a thread has been bumped that pretty much answers my questions. Thank you Soccer and Cmiller for taking the time to respond. It's nice to get such a quick response from two of the top fastest and knowlegable Cobalt guys.

My best time so far is 13.945 @ 104.22 with a 2.269 60'. That was with drag radials. I only went down the track once after doing a burnout and that's when I got this time. I did go down the track a few times on the drag radials without doing a burnout and ran low to mid 14s and traps of 99-102ish.

However, on my NT05 Summer tires (exact same size as the drag radials), I ran 14.252 @ 106.60 with a 2.536 60'. Weather was pretty much the same on both outings.

I was thinking the main inconsistency is the shift points. When I ran the higher trap with the crappier 60' I think I shifted earlier than I did when I got the faster time with the lower trap. Haven't tried just staying in 3rd. It seems like I'm shifting to 4th right before the end of the 1/4 mile though. Hmmmm.

Hell, I just need more seat time and need to pay attention to anything I do differently and how it affected the time.

Problem is I'm scared of breaking something.

interesting. i always shift at redline, and end in 4th about 100-150ft before i trap, but i will try this next time to see what happens...
plus i launch at 2200-2500, 3k is way too much and 2k is not enough...

i was all over the limiter in 3rd at darlington on a set of 225/40R18 NT05's that were on the wear bar when i went a 14.2@102.2. i also didnt NLS 1-2 because the track SUCKED and it was chirping the tires in 1st after it damn near cut off on the launch. I think i had like a 2.47 60-ft and that was a 9.4x@80mph 1/8th time too...
