Would you think I'm an idiot if:

I did a couple of passes down the track with my softer-compound winter tires on the front?

My Pirellis are 3 years old and bald... and I can't afford new tires right now. Has anyone else tried running on their winters? I have seen a couple of cars do it, but not any cobalts.

flame suit is on lol

you know that in warmer weather, the winter tires will deteriorate faster, right? which will leave you in need of new summer and winter tires. just my .02

Yah I know they would wear faster.. But they would be put on at the track and do 1 or 2 passes and then taken off again.

Good point, its just that I've been to the track once with my bald Pirellis and I'm addicted and want to go again but I don't see the point unless I have tires that will grip.

actually I've run some of my faster s/c'd times on 16" mud and snows and so has most other people that I go to the track with. I only picked up 2 tenths running the slicks (although I don't "burnout" and launch easy)

You don't need tread for traction at a dragstrip.. you're not racing in the rain, are you?
