05 cobalt ss/tc

ok guys sorry if any of this has been discussed.im new to the forums here and to cobalts.
i recently got an 05 cobalt ss that is supposed to have the b207r swap. the guy i was talking to that sold me the car has since passed away so i cant find anything out that way.im trying to figure out what all has been done to this car. he had said something about having the boost up to 27 psi. is this posable on stock internals? is there anything i can look at to identify the head block intake ect? i did notice that the tc pipes into the intake from the top so im wondering if maybe it was an sc top end on the b207r block and head also, its grinding in second gear on downshifts. im thinking syncros. i have an f23 trans out of an 04 cav. will this fit the cobalt? not sure as the cobalt is delta and the cav is jbody.

ill address the trans question first as its simple- no the cavalier f23 wont be an easy swap as you (should) have an f35 transmission. the swap can be done, but it means a different shifter, shifter cables, clutch master and slave, etc. its not worth it, better to have the f35 rebuilt or get a used one.

for the engine, hard to know whats going on there. the b207r is very similar to the lsj, in fact the only difference im aware of is the camshafts, aside from the obvious turbo/supercharger difference. the b207 intake manifold had the throttle body on the top. its would be hard to identify if the guy swapped the entire b207 engine in, or if he just installed the turbo and the intake manifold.

thanks for the quick reply. figured i couldn't be that lucky on the trans. ive read conflicting stories on the b207r and the lsj's. would you happen to know if the internals are the same? would i be better off dropping the sc engine back in? am i correct in thinking i can use the mu3 or the mc2? if so what years?

you can use either, however the mc2 (4.05 ratio) would be better to use.

Is it running okay? If so no need to put the lsj engine it unless you want the stock supercharger

The cylinder head was slightly different as well. Slightly smaller exhaust ports than the LSJ.
