4 Puck 6 Puck Question..

I'm sorry if this has been covered, but I haven't been able to locate the thread...I was just wondering what the differences are between 4 Puck and 6 Puck, and which would be better?? Or is a, depending on it's use type choice?? Modding a manual tranny is still new to me, so I'm willing to accept any help ya'll can hook me up with. Thanks..

lol, the bolded part... yea.. that part.... i don't think much has NOT been covered here! finding things can be a bitch though..

4puck will grab REALLy quick and break your neck as oposed to a 6 puck. So... it's not the easiest thing in the world to drive around in stop and go traffic.

simple answer, you don't want either... those are generally racing clutches, the theory goes like this... they grip super hard so that they don't break while racing. with a six, you probably will get wheel spin with every take off, with a four you def will.

just get a good standard clutch

depends on what he wants it for now dosn't it?

I guess it depends on what engine you have too.

I have a 6 puck, it's still very streetable, and if my car had a better driver, I'd get good track times.

I got mine from a member on this forum. You can get them from Turbo Tech all day long, though probably not at the price I paid. Clutchmasters makes my clutch. Exactly which one is in my sig.

ugh...

a 4/6puck in its self does not make it a raceing clutch. alot of that has to due with what type of hub(sprung/solid) and what material its made with.

a sold face clutch(like the spec "+"line) are able to hold just as much if not more then a "puck" style clutch.

a puck style will always grab harder at the start but thats a bad thing for every day driveing.

I don't even notice it anymore. I just know my clutch grips and doesn't let go. It cured the problem I was having with the stock one and it's still my daily driver. The card I have from CM spells out which ones are racing and which ones aren't. The FX 400 is the highest stage non racing clutch they make. I could be the exception to the rule though.

I suppose so.

I didn't have any fitment issues that I am aware of. If my tranny blows I'll know otherwise.

lol Yeah, the mechanic said it went in fine. After reading the 15+ page thread about the CM clutch, I just paid somebody to do it.

I have the FX300 which is just below a 6-puck. It's great for normal driving, and grips like a ****! I was the one who started that 15 page post with issues, but CM fixed them all, so everyone else won't have to go through what I did!
