Another clutch thread.. Free dealer install

My clutch has been slipping randomly. The dealer currently has my car and they are "tearing down" the clutch tommarow but said they probably wouldn't be able to warranty it. They wanted to check the pressure plate and see if there is anything they can do. The manager said if I wanted to purchase a new clutch (even aftermarket) they would install it for free since they already have it apart. This is a perfect opportunity for me to find a new one! Problem is I don't have 1300 bucks to spend on an exedy. I've been reading about cobalt clutches and I'm at a loss. I simply haven't found enough info to make me feel happy about getting a new one.. I'd like to spend no more that 600 bucks and I need it QUICK.. and there is NO WAY I will spend 1000+ for the exedy...or even 800.. I plan on visiting the track a couple times this summer.. and this stocker just isn't going to hold up. What cheaper clutch is gonna be ok? and how much better than stock would it perform? I like a solid pedal.. right now I feel no resistance in my clutch. its like there is nothing there.

The sticky on shifting patterns does not set well with me and seems kinda shady.. Thats simply not good enough. I shift around 3k and still there is a random slip here and there. The clutch seems strong one day.. and another day it will slip. I wonder how much better the spec2+ is than the spec2.. I haven't heard much good about a spec2.

Moral of this story: Try to have a dealer look at your clutch to get a free clutch install I hate to turn down this free install opportunity.. But I'd also like to think the stocker will hold..
