automatic shifter
automatic shifter
2005 base, with automatic trans
shifter must be in ( P ) position to be able to remove key from ignition
my shifter is not locking in the ( P ) position
and usually brake pedal must be pushed to unlock the shifter, well none of that is working
i did try rocking the shifter back and forth, then when i tryed to push back into ( P ) something snaped from under the car
and my key is stuck in the ignition...anyone have any idea ?

Ya i dont know if its applies but i have a auto also and went to the dealership for free oil change and they told me about it and swapped it out. something about not shifting and displaying the incorrect gears and stuff like it shows Drive but its really in Park or somethin... hope this helps
called my dealer this morning...there are no recalls on this issue
they do have a posted bulletin, for this probleme
as usuall gm is not taking full responsability, and letting the consumer pay the $120 for the part + labor
when it comes to cobalt they have a long list of bulletin
