Should I get the Exedy hypersingle

My clutch is slipping a little in the middle of 3rd and 4th gears. I would like some input on clutches, particularly the hypersingle, but info on others is welcome. What is the driveability of the hypersingle(chatter, clucth pedal pressure, stop and go traffic). I want a clutch that I won't need to replace again for a long time, hopefully ever.

not much chatter, super hard pedal. dont expect it to last as long as an OEM clutch though. usually those performance 6 puck clutches chew up the flywheel pretty good. i would expect about 40,000-45,000 miles out of a hard driven 6 puck clutch

Is your idea of hard driving during everday use, or as in going to the track?

Do they make one for the lnf?

O.k., I think I have it narrowed down to two, the hypersingle and the spec3+. Any input on this would be helpful.

^^^This^^^I'm 40 years old, been driving a stick since you were in diapers(assuming from your response, since it sounded young and immature). I think I've got a pretty good grasp at driving a manual.

Im no expert on clutches but have been talking about this for the past few weeks, and the Hypersingle isnt a 6 puck clutch. Its the best clutch available for the LNF. Pedal feel should be similair to stock. Dont believe you will ever need to replace it or max it out. Its expensive as ****, I got quoted at 1750 for clutch installed at a local shop. Otherwise the Spec stage 1 I believe is a good choice too as its not a 6 puck clutch and will hold more tq then the stock clutch

I drive my hypersingle everyday, sometimes in heavy traffic. Can get hard on my leg from time to time, but, it's not so bad.

^Is it tougher then stock? Thats not a big deal, a bit tougher pedal would make me feel like its a stronger clutch lol

hypersingle is a six puck clutch. they only make 1 clutch for the LSJ/LNF which is considered a "stage 3 clutch"

I do agree! Considering I plan on doing a few more mods with the car in the future.

apparently your right, i heard it wasnt and 6 puck clutches suck cause they break on this car so its best to steer away from six puck and I heard the hypersingle was the best clutch. Now i hear its 6 puck. So WTF. i dont wanna drop 1100 on the hyper single when I can get a Spec clutch for cheaper

i had it. it was a great clutch but i really couldn't deal with the drivabilty in traffic since i drive in traffic for 1.5 to 2 hours everyday. changed it out for the gmpp clutch upgrade. gonna go with spec next time i think

whats the deal with lightweight flywheels. Make it sketchy to drive at first since the clutch engages quickly?

yep they do make 1st gear starts a PITA. but yeah i dont like using them either because they do balance these engines at high rpm speeds, especially since i will be spinning it to 8000rpm eventually

The GMPP clutch for the LSJ IS the LNF stock clutch. I'll sell you a used one if you want it.

I have the Exedy hypersingle in my 2008 SS/TC. The pedal is heavier than my RAM VDS clutch in my 420 rwhp Firebird Formula. It took a bit of getting used to but I drive it daily to work and back 50 miles round trip with about 10 minutes of typical stop and go driving.

so basically its a little too much and it might be better to look at Spec clutches. like the stage 3+. Half the damn price. I can get a spec installed probobly for a tiny bit more then the hypersingle alone

but the exedy comes with a new flywheel itself. the specs are only pressure plate and clutch

alright so spec works well on these cars. comparable to the exedy? Just got off the phone with the performance shop that im gonna have to the install and they said spec is weird on different cars. works well on GM's/Fords/etc. but sucks on imports. They said to check the forums first, and here I am
