ive heard a lot of good things about both. b&m has been out longer and fit and qualty are great. with the hurst the shifts are shorter and quicker then the b&M but the reverse lockout button isint working right for a lot of people so hurst has to fix that. but its is a toss up between the 2. im problay goign to be goign with the hurst

I got my Hurst from Northern Autoparts. $133 USD. Love the shifter.

i've installed and driven both.

the b&m has more stuff with it, like some aluminum spacers or some crap for the shifter base and seems longer than the hurst. it also seemed like it was, i dunno, weaker i guess? the hurst feels more heavy duty. i didnt really like the knob on the b&m either but it does look good in a black or silver car. i own a hurst by the way.

and also, there is no problem with the reverse lock out. basically it tells you to remove the shift cable on installation. dont do it where you adjust the cable. i popped my cable off at the shifter so i wouldnt have to adjust anything and it works perfect. if you do for some reason feel the need to mess with the adjustments on the cables, mark them before you take them apart.

Hurst all the way, like someone else said, it just feels better than the B&M, even without bushings. Very sturdy and solid shifts. I love mine.

And as was mentioned, there is no revers lockout problem with the shifter, mine works flawlessly, you just have to make sure your cables are adjusted properly.

its true they did^^^

i have the hurst shifter and theres a lot of wiggle in it. it works fine but isn't as snug as i'd like it. my set screw stripped and i cant tighten it. i think i'd probably of prefered b&m but im in no rush to replace it. the hurst is nice, just needs some tweeking is all

I ended up getting a B&M just because there was one localy. The install was very easy to do, took about an hour.
Hurst was bought out by B&M but they will still produce Hurst shifters.

Once I found out, I purchased a Hurst. Who knows? B&M may just slap Hurst engraving on their shifters... Now, if only I could find a decent how-to here... Or are the instructions pretty intuitive?

if you got the hurst, it comes with an excellent how-to. you shouldn't have any problems

Installed yesterday. Great shifter!! Had a problem finding fifth, probably because it's so short... Like everyone has said here, removing the shifter from the connector socket and installing the Hurst back was a bitch. Now, this reverse "issue". What is everyone talking about? Shifting into reverse or the lock out not staying "up"?? I can put the ride in reverse, but my lock out won't stay engaged. (I can't even remember if it did with the stock shifter... LOL)
