Blew the tranny? no 2nd 4th reverse
I need ur guys help... lost all bottom gears(2nd 4th reverse)
I shifted to 2nd and it wouldn't go in. Same with 4th and reverse. I drove home with 1st 3rd and 5th. Ive read it might be a roll pin. I dont have a warrenty, but im preety good with working on cars and have the abilty to fix them. What u guys think happened?

^^^ x2, if the rollpin is not bad then a cable has stretched / broken / popped off its bracket.
If I was a betting man (wait, I am ) I would put money on the rollpin.....

Everything was intact in the cupholder area. I can move the shifter almost in a circle. Just popped the driver's side wheel off now, and i see a spring loose coming out of the bracket on the the upper cable(forward and back movement cable, where as the lower cable is the side to side movement).
The upper cable moves freely when the shifter is moved straight up and gets stuck when the shifter is moved straight back.
Most likey this is the roll pin. Could you make a rollpin yourself out of steel or aluminum tubing instead of buying it. Or if not is it the same roll pin out of all manual cobalts? Seems like this is a problem on these cars.

they do? all I found were the brackets with no rubber bushings. Which would probably be worse because the rubber acts as a safety. The other thing I found was the TWM clamps for the end of the shifter cable.
I'm looking for an aftermarket cable that has something better than those plastic casings for the springs. Ill post the pics of what broke when i get the cable out.
GM told me 105 for the cables ( they come as a pair )
