I heard Hurst had issues awhile back with the reverse lockout. You might want to seach some threads for info. Shouldn't be the trans or clutch, so I would focus on the shifter more so.

what jimbo said. my links broke (see my how to) and when i put them back together i could adjust how far up on my cable i wanted it to connect. you know you pull up on the little shaft boot right? i know its been a while for you... but on my car, you have to lift it up, push right, up, right and down

I'm laughing....this is a trip. You get the car back and you can't get it out of the driveway to put some miles on it.

so many folks have trouble with shifter adjustment i am not sure the short throw shifters are worth it, and as someone said the Hurst has its share of detractors. I have used B&M nice part but went to back to stock. The cable adjustment is the issue Hurst doesnt help good luck
