clutch on the 2.4
are the clutches basically the same for all he cobalts or is there a big difference between the ss/sc clutch and the ss 2.4 clutch. I hear some complain about the clutch on the ss/sc but not about the 2.4.
Also my biggest question is, i have heard a few times now that you dont need to push the clutch peddle all the way down on our cars for them to fully disengage, is this true? Would it be better for racing to push it down halfway when shifting so it engages faster?
I have the 2.4 and im also fairly new to 5 speed, my first every5 speed car, had it less then a month, only stalled it once on the first day so im not doing bad lol.
Im just curious on some tips for how to treat it at the strip and daily driving, any tips are welcome, thanks

2.4 and 2.0 clutch are not interchangeable. Totally different trannies, totally different clutches. But the 2.2/2.4 clutch is the same.
Find the engagement point on your clutch, that will tell you how far the pedal needs to go down. I think it's different between the 2.2/2.4 and the 2.0 clutch. I barely have to put the clutch in on my SS/SC, but I've driven both a 2.2 and 2.4 manual and both had to have the pedal nearly to the floor to disengage it.

BTW we carry 2.4L clutch kits at www.TurboTechRacing.com
the 2.2 and 2.4 clutch kits are interchangeable.
that said, the same clutches are made for both patterns. for example, the SPEC stage 2+ (which i have and love) can be bought for either trans

when i took mine off, i could see where it had overheated the metal, so i just ordered an aluminum one.
it def adds a little bit of ass at the top end, however, a few cautions about lighter flywheels.
A. they do make the car harder to get going smoothly. basically, from a dead stop the car will never be super smooth.
B. every car i've ever driven with one has always been kinda funny as far as clutch feel. mine certainly is. it works okay, but i would love it to be harder.
C. cobalts have electric throttle bodys and electronic ignitions that regulate the speed at which the engine accels and decels. in other words, it stops the car from taching up and down as fast as it could. so, for maximum effect, you should get a good tune after install.
