clutch break in.

i have the spec 3 plus clutch and flywheel i just got it put in. The directions say you have to break it in . 500 miles before you can get on it . Has anyone on here done that, how important is the break in period. And does anyone have clutch rattle , very mild does it go away or is that just normal for these clutches.

I have only personally experienced having to change clutches on 3 different vehicles but each one has suggested a 500 mile break in period.. It has something to with conditioning everything for the heat.. It takes a few heat cycles and also to wear the newness off on the clutch disc itself... I Have never drove a cobalt that had anything but a stock clutch but I have drove other vehicles that I have put spec clutches in and I noticed that they have a harsh engage, I guess where the pressure plate springs are alot stiffer..

the guys at auto motion did the install,it has a litte clutch chatter but i hear thats common with a high performance clutch so far i only put 40 miles on it and im very happy with it . The guys at automotion are great people and would recommend then to every one. They did the axle install also .When i picked up the car it was flawless just like i droped it off.
