What exactly are you referring to as adjustable in your clutch kits?

the clutches in the supercharged cars had a self adjusting pressure plate. this can cause issues. i would replace it with a non self adjusting pressure plate.

The clutch is slipping bad and I was on rock auto to purchase Pressure plate, clutch plate and slave cylinder (Clutch kit)
Rock auto had adjustable and non adjustable kits for 05 SS S/C to choose from.

I honestly didn't know such a clutch setup even existed on the Cobalt. I'm guessing they are supposed to auto-adjust for wear. Have no idea what they actually do as this is the first I've heard of them.

normally as a clutch wears the release point of the pedal gets higher and higher, and when the clutch is worn out it will release right at the top. with a self adjusting pressure plate the release point stays at the same height through most of the life of the clutch, then it will move to the top quite quick when the clutch is worn out.

the self adjusting mechanism in the ss/sc pressure plate can have problems with the increased rev limit of the gm stage 2 kit. shifting at 7000 rpm, my stock clutch would cause the pedal to release normal, but then grab right at the floor, and the next time i push the clutch in it would release right at the top. after returning to normal driving the clutch would work fine again. many theorized this issue was caused by hydraulics, i believe this was the pressure plate that was the problem. after going with the gmpp clutch, which does not have the self adjusting mechanism, that problem went away.

best to always go with a non self adjusting pressure plate.

Seems like unnecessary complexity to solve a problem that isn't really a problem
