Question Does anyone know??

Does anyone know the spec for piston to cylinder wall clearance??

I'm installing new pistons and just wanted to make sure all specs were in line.

Didn't you measure your bore and order pistons for that?

No. according to diamond racing these were "drop ins" for factory bore sizes. I still have the option of returning them to get bigger pistons if needed but, I wanted to remain with the factory compression and bore size if possible. So before I go too far I want to check and recheck all measurments.

I can find you stock specs but those are for hypereutectic stock pistons. Forged ones will require more clearance than that.

Here's your GM stock spec:

Piston - Piston To Bore Clearance
0.010-0.041 mm
0.0004-0.0016 in

Not bored, just honed.

I did a dry fit and all seems well. But like I said, I just want to make sure all specs are in line. I have a message in for Diamond racing to get exact specs. WITT -- Thanks for the stock spec #'s.

the wiseco pistons in the 2.2l im building call for .0025" piston to wall. the gm build book says .008-.009", but thats for a race motor, far to much for a street motor.

I have a 2.0l s/c. 60lb injectors 2.6 pulley, cooling mods, intense stage 4 tune, header back system and I've been dyno'd at 289 whp with my old tune. I haven't dyno'd this one yet. I would say its not a race motor but a pretty quick one. Would you consider this a race motor for the specs you stated? Or race motor meaning full blown race motor? Thanks.

its not a race motor because its a daily driven car and isnt spending its entire life in high rpm under very high boost. race motor means full out race car.
