I read a lot about the difference the LSD makes on the SS/SC so I that side I don't have any problem but I have one question that is still unanswered

Does the LSD give you more HP (probably not) or torque?

One of the reasons I am asking is because I keep seeing everywhere that the SS/SC has 200 torque but if you look on the GM Canada web site it says that it has 230 Torque and they don't mention at all what kind of difference it does.

I would say in theory yes, since there is more gearing and friction than a open diff. I seriously doubt its a large difference, maybe a couple HP, if that.

i would say its not gonna give you more h/p but prob more whp..i think it would be puttin a lill more of the power to the ground..traction is the main gain witht this mod

If we are talking strictily dyno rated power an LSD will not gain you any power and I stand by the fact it will probably be marginally lower.

If your talking about acceleration tests and stuff I dunno, to many varibles to make a call.

A LSD will go you no numerical dyno advantage. It will help make better use of what you already have though. Lets you put all your torque to 2 wheels instead of 1

Um pull with two wheels ? It's a single drum and you pull with two wheels with an open diff too Traction really has no bearing on a dyno pull with the cobalt at least.

And actually the LSD is gear based and more gears means more friction and more loss of power. Not saying it's a lot of power but some is loss.

Ummm dude...I wasn't refering to a dyno pull. I thought it would be obvious that I meant pull as in MOVE THE CAR, use the power with, or put power to both wheels. Guess I need to be really clear when I post.

Isnt the LSD in the G85 balts more of a Auto cross/Turn enabling one than a drag/acceleration one? I have no idea and I dont have a G85 but im still curious as to what it really gives you.

No! GM Canada says our car has 200 lb.-ft. of torque. It lists it as having 230 Nm of torque. They are just different ways of measuring power. Go back and look, and you will see. You are reading the chart wrong.

The open differential will deliver power to two wheels as long as two conditions are in existence at the same time. 1. Both front wheels must have traction, and 2. You are going in a straight line. Any time you are in a turn, the outside wheels are rotating faster than the wheels on the inside of the turn. With an open diff., only the inside front wheel will have power going to it. With a Limited Slip Differential, the diff will allow one tire to turn faster than the other until a certain point is reached (usually about 3 rotations of the tire). At that time, power is then delivered to both front wheels. That is why you can go around a turn and not squeel the tire on the inside of the turn unless you go in a perpetual turn in which case you will eventually begin to deliver power to both front wheels. The LSD is of primary benefit when spinning one of the front tires.
