A friend of mine told me you could do this...
but he has a mini
and I noticed this guy is also driving a mini
so maybe it's just a mini thing,
but can/do ours do this too? Is it a regualr transmition thing?

YouTube - How to shift without the clutch (clutchless shifting)

its highly not recommended. learning your car and making mastering rev matching is extremely needed. also with our transmissions it puts a fair amount of stress on the syncro's. so short answer you can but its not recommend.

With some practice its totally doable. Mess it up and your trans will hate you.

If you really want to learn go buy a $200 junker.

Well in a semi you only need the clutch to take off and downshift.I did it in my s-10 and balt cause I was too lazy to pick my left foot up at the moment haha.I rarely do it in the balt seeing im on the 3rd transmission

You'll probably do it anyway because you probably know more than anybody on this forum, but...

Yeah don't clutchless shift on a transmission with gear synchronisers. Semi drivers get away with it because their transmissions aren't synchronised.

i do it all the time, it doesnt hurt the car at all when you know how to rev match it.

Naaah, you can downshift without the clutch too. Very easy on a 13 or 18 speed.
PITA on these cars with the computer controlled throttle - very hard to get the rev match just right.

Like someone else pointed out - you only have to miss it once to make your tranny hate you
