Ebrake Question

Ive looked through the forums and couldn't find anything similar to my problem. Ill do my best to explain this. I have a 2.2l automatic and i went to put my ebrake on and there is still tension on the ebrake but it doesn't click into place and when i let go it just returns to the starting position. The other weird thing is that the button is popped out so the spring is exposed but the button will not come out it getting caught on something. If someone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate them.

I had the same problem with mine. I would pull up on the e-brake and there was no tension, then when I let it go it would fall back down. Basically the cables that are connecting to the e-brake have either come loose or need adjustment. Mine came loose and I brought it back to the dealership where they covered it under warranty. But I think its only covered for the first 12K miles, that was what I was told. Hope that helps.

can you adjust the tention on the e brake? that tiny screw in there. . . will that make it tighter by a click or two?

No, powertrain = engine and transmission ONLY

It's not clicking, I'm guessing something's broken inside. There's a wheel with teeth that catch as you pull it up.

When you pull it up and hold it - does it hold the brakes on (sounds like it does from what you're saying)? If so then you need to take it in and have them fix it, or pull the cover surrounding the area around the lever so you can look at the mechanism and see if you can see what's not catching.
