final drive
i was just thinking about when i get a bigger turbo, i wont have very much grip and my gears will seem way shorter, so maybe messing with the final drive would help.
has anyone changed the final drive on their cobalt? it would be nice to make the gears a little taller when your at 450+whp.

Well if your'e going to be making that much power your going to need a pretty large turbo. Therefore the need for valvesprings to rev it out and make that power becomes apparent, with valvesprings you can easily raise the limiter to 7200 (conservative) with that second gear will take you to 76-78 mph and third will take you to 115 or so, fourth is going to take you above 150... you want a powerglide?

simply raising the rev limiter wont help. its to make power more managable, not a higher top speed for me.
reason why i asked is because when zzp finally comes out with their EFR turbo kit, i plan on getting it. all i gotta do is buy a clutch next paycheck and then save for the kit.

were you drunk? Lol these cars do not feel fine at 140+ ( i had my 07 IRL to 150+ and it did not feel fine). even lowered it still has a drag speed limiter,
Dart there is a bunch of talk about swapping final drive ratios for the SS/TC but with the complexity of this transmission nobody wants to pay the $$$ to do it cause of the labor involved and special tools, Cause you allmost would be better saving and going 6 speed conversion. Lol easy way to make all that power more manageable is to run a slicker R compound tire all the time, or even DOT DR's if your not trying to hit canyons. Lol ive ran Dr's to and from the track a total of 150 miles in one trip, My freeway rolls/light drops on people i was rolling with were EPIC!

Taller gears=more load
More load+more power=broken trans
A slew of people have shortened their final drives, including Powell and ZZP to take some load off the trans and of course, help acceleration.
Can't get around the crap that is 1st gear in the F35 no matter what though.

having 400+ ft lbs at 2500 rpms is what is killing your traction. changing the powerband around with the larger turbo will help with that issue. plus i can dial back some boost in the lower rpms. however, you don't have boost by gear.. thats there the ams-1000 comes into play
