first gear

I just purchased a 2009 ss/tc and find first gear to be a pain in the butt when letting out clutch. if you do not do it just right the car will jerk . works fine if you hit the throttle good but hate to have to do that all of the time. Did this stock and also with new trifecta tune. Is this normal for turbo cars.

Yes i know how to drive.

Sounds like an aftermarket puck clutch. on a lightweight flywheel. Was the car bought used or new?

Sounds like the typical Cobalt first gear. The short gear, combined with the touchy throttle pedal can sometimes cause the car to jerk. You get used to it and learn how to keep the car from doing it... most of the time.

Its normal for all SSs, whether SC or TC thanks to our wonderful tranny/engine combo. It takes practice...

I guess I forgot how it was stock, sorry. I've been running some Terminator cam tables for a while that smoothed out everything well.

Launching does take some practice in this car.. You'll get used to it. After awhile you'll be able to creep away at idle without any jerking.

That first gear is hardly usable. stand on it and you are red lined extremely fast car is hoppin like crazy. mid throttle you are bucking like a bronco. Its like first gear in a semi. Second and third gear pretty sweet though.

I can see why the guys on this forum want to race from a roll.

damn right 1st gear is kind of useless u just cant launch right, but yea racing from 2nd gear going like 20-30 this car KILLS...

my only advice is only take 1st gear to 15 mph with steady throttle, only pushing more on it as u go. once u let off the throttle at all then get back on it is when the buckin' bronco b.s. happens.
