full mounts or inserts

ok so like it says, which is a better idea? should i buy new mounts with the polly inserts, or just get the inserts? has anyone put a polly insert in the plastic front trans mount? will it hold up to mild abuse? i have a press to use so that isn't an issue i'm just wondering if the plastic one will hold up really.

Get the mounts... I've seen someone who had his stock mounts removed and filled... they were falling apart after 25,000 miles.

Prothane and the Turbo Tech Racing upper. Filling them does not work very well, and most times crumbles and falls out anyways when you fill them yourself.

We have heard time after time, that customers first fill their mounts and the "fill" crumbles and falls out.

I've got and 07 LS with the Prothane inserts on the front plastic mount and the rear metal mount with 8000 miles on them.

Beating the hell out of them for autocross.

Work great, no problems. 50 bucks cant beat it.

I see no reason to do the upper on mine.

I have to disagree. I understand you are just trying to sell product but it's not right to mislead others to do it. If you fill you take your time to clean the mouts so that you get a good bond, filling them will work just fine. You also have to make sure you give them plenty of cure time. I've done it not only on my car, but many of my friends have as well. We've never had a problem.

It's like anything, if you take your time and do it right you will be fine.

inserts should be fine...idk about the plastic mount , but its been said to hold up, buy the inserts , if you dont like it or the mount breaks , then get the new mounts and put the poly inserts in them, that way you dont loose any money

14k miles used with drag slicks and road slicks for auto cross, the inserts with the plastic mount are just fine.

I've onlt see one plastic mount break and that was from a parking lot stopper that got run over. You'd have to do something really nuts to break it with just engine power. I'd make a farily safe bet you'd bust the clutch first before that mount would go.
