g85 in VIN?

Is the G85 easily located in the vin or is it always best found on the label in the trunk? does it matter between lsj or lnf where it is best to find it?

Trunk.

It's only in the vin if you put it into the system and look up all the vehicle information. there's no specific number sequence in the VIN that signifies a limited slip.

Honestly, search button man. In the time it takes you to make this thread, you could have found the answer.

In the trunk, pick up the carpet, on the left side by the sub, theres a metal plate with all options, it'll be listed there as "G85" if you have it.

OR

Run your VIN using http://compnine.com/

Just found out I have I have LSD using the *compine* link!

When I got this car about a month ago, I got it used from a Mercedes Dealer. They didn't have the original sticker sheet that went with the car. Since they didn't list LSD as an option in their ad, I assumed it didn't have it. I just learned about this web site on the *how rare is your car* post here. I decided to check it out and you can see above that LSD was checked off. I wasn't sure if that was just something that was an *option* available or if it meant it was on my car. I then found this post to help me find out for sure (trunk tag). G85 listed on the tag!!!
Funny, the car took turns as if it was on rails....and I posted recently on another thread that not having LSD really wasn't a problem for me. Boy, I got that one wrong.

Not really, both the trunk and VIN works. And besides, alot of us bought this used.

The funny thing is..the DEALER didn't list LSD on their *options* list in the for sale ad!

LSD and SS/TC Sedans

I was looking at the vins of various SS/TC cars and it looks like almost ALL SEDANS don't have LSD and most Coupes do. Is this correct?

About 8/10 of the TC's have it... pretty sure that's basically consistent with both coupes and sedans.

I searched used cars for sale...ALL of the coupes had LSD..there were only TWO sedans and they both didn't have it. That's gotta tell you something. On the VIN search web site they showed 75% off all TC's made in 2009 had LSD. I assume most of those that didn't were 4 doors.
