Same trans as the LNF. F35

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...3&postcount=11

The LNF trans fluid is a good upgrade for the LSJ. It takes around 1.7 qts. Fill through the top plug shown until it overflows a bit. 8 mm hex wrench does the trick. LNF fluid is around $26/qt. though.

I couldn't find the LNF GM fluid when I needed it so I used Red Line GL-4 MT-90 & MTL to get the right viscosity. 1 qt MT-90 and .7 qt MTL

Our trannys don't need GL-5 or 5+ as our LSD's aren't the type that require it. OEM fluid is GL-4

GM specs a special oil for the LNF. That's why it's so expensive. I read it's got something to do with NLS. The oil must have a super shear rating.

According to Maven the LNF fluid is rebadged Castrol Syntrans but I couldn't find that in the states either.

The Red Line performs well in mine. The LNF fluid is a lifetime fill fluid, but I don't mind changing it every 30k or so.

Back in the day the recomended manual transmission oil change was never. There was none. If it was quality oil to begin with and nothing obviously broke inside it would get better as it worked. Like I said. Back in the good old days. I don't have my book with me right now but I don't thing\k there's a service required on late models, like ours, either. But I may be wrong.
