It's not goint to be a cheap or easy job that just anyone can do. You have to have the special tranny tools and tear the whole think apart to do it. Just as bad a putting a LSD in a non-LSD tranny.

i have a shop 2 do my stuff they r the one that r cryoing my trans but i just need 2 locate the 3.82 FDG stuff.....

IMO the 3.82 would e crazy for the turbo guys cause the SS\tc is faster that the ss\sc and it cant rev as high... So with a 400whp car reving 2 7500+ plus the 3.82 gearing it would be crazy...And i do agree that the 4.45 gearing would accel faster but at those power levels unless u r on drag slicks u will just spin tire in about every gear. Also the 3.82 would be great for reducing torque just enough 2 hopefully help wear & tear....imo

Yeh I just want 2 auto-x.... But I think in ur case the 4.45 gears would b 2 low. U would have 2 launch in 2nd and shift a ton of times before u got 2 the end of the track...srry 4 the text typing(phone post)

No problem man lol

I was thinking the the 4.45s leaving the line in 2nd gear but I think it would bog a little too much. The would use 2 3 4 in the 1/4 mile.

The 3.82 I'll use 1 2 3 and 3rd will be good up to 120ish mph.

Let me know for sure!

I agree, the 4.45s for auto-x would be the best hands down.

I'm thinking 3.82 again now for drag racing because everything I've read on other forums and books. Turbos like taller gears and will keep me in load easier and longer.

I feel like a YOYO!!!

I would say to go with the 4.45 for dragging, i never heard that turbos like tall gears, you're reving to over 7 grand and are turboed, I would without a doubt go with 4.45

I say this because I think you would want lower gears to help keep your car in its power band. With the info that rally gave you, look at that, and if you're worried about shifting, just practice and get faster at it or something.

I have the stage 2 kit from ais, it just needs to be installed. I know that cooling is of the utmost importance with the tvs.

if you get the 3.82, you will without a doubt, be slower. No way around it. The 3.82 will only increase your gas mileage. That will be your only positive from that. If you get the 4.45, you'll not only be faster, but your top end won't suffer to badly as the jump from 4.05 to 4.45 isn't enough to destroy your topend.

I hope that's the case and I won't lose so much shifting since I'm turbo. Most of the research I did on other turbo cars showed they switched to taller gearing with a turbo too because they like more load and it helps spool and keep spool going.

It just seems that as it is I'd benifit from the taller gears and the shorter would kill me because of the extra shift.

I used this calculator http://dirtjapan.com/myscript/gear_selecter.php

I typed in gear ratios from other cars and they all seemed to be taller then ours when taking the individual 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th ratios into consideration. Check it out.

It's the 1st to 2nd shift that kills me because of the split in gear ratios. The RPMs drop down too low and I lose boost. The I gotta wait for it to go again. I was hoping with the 3.82s the wheel speed would be higher and help the turbo recover quicker.

pay attention to ralli, and now my input its all about the hook you gotta hook up and i am not sure you are, if you are and the car falls down, then retune....thats my opinion 4.45 is faster....

you need to work on that launch. Play with different pressure in your slicks and be sure to get them heated up properly. You shouldn't be spinning 10.5" mickey thompson slicks that easily.
