I will see what I can do, he isn't online much but he works at the saab place that sells them. I know you have to cut the bottom of the shifter off to make it work so some may be weary of that idea.

i what to know where it shortens the throw.

is it longer between the pivot ball and where the cables connect or is shorter between the pivot ball and the shift knob?

You cut the bent end off and it slips up over that. It makes it more like the aftermarket Short shifters.

I purchased the short shifter and the bearings on Thursday. So I will likely be putting it in next weekend. I will let you know my experiences after the install.

I have always debated buying and having them install this and the bushings. I live/work in the same town as Genuine Saab.

make sure you guys do a picture how to. im a visual guy.
base bushings arent bad at all to do. i reccommend taking the center console out or at least have it loose so you can lift it up to work under it because if you drop one of those or a washer under the carpet im sure its a pain in the ass to get out. luckily by doing that it never happened and im glad i did it that way for that reason.

I will take pics, I have an HHR so I am not sure how different the console is but I know the shifter and tranny are the same thing.

I installed mine yesterday. I used a combination of the twm instructions and the one that came with the adapter. I found the install to be pretty easy that way. If I had to estimate I would say it shortens the throw probably around 20% or so. You can definitely feel the difference. With the price only at ~$55, I think it's a great deal compared to paying over $150 and upwards of $250 with twm. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend it.

yeah, should get a pic of the bottom of the shifter(before its cut) next to the saab adapter for a length reference.

Sorry no pics.

You will have to cut just above the ball on the shifter, leaving about 5/8" of steel left to slide on the adapter. I used a cutting wheel with my air compressor...took about a minute.

Seriously guys, this was an easy install. I was a little worried at first as well, but once I got into it was very easy. Just be careful when removing the torx screws. I dropped one and almost lost it.

BTW... on the way into work this morning I really noticed a difference shifting into 2nd gear...it is much quicker and easier. The Stock 1st to 2nd sucked in my opinion.

Use the TWM instructions as a guide to get everything apart and put back together and you will be fine. The instructions are on CSS.net somewhere.

Took me about an hour, including the base bushings. If I had to do it again, probably a half hour.
