GMPP LSJ Upgrade Clutch

So with the new release of the 2009 GMPP book . Who will be getting the GMPP upgraded clutch(#19212712). It holds to 300hp . Is it even worth it.

I know if I put juice to mine with the GMS3 that I will be over 300 hp so what's the point. It's cheaper and it has the GM name on it. Is all I can think of

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Because I have heard of the after market clutches slipping well under 300 when they are rated for 350-400+ hp. Once you get to about 260+ hp + DR's, the stock one is going to start slipping no matter what kind of driver you are.

This is interesting. My clutch has been slipping too. And I have heard mixed things on the spec clutches so this fairly appealing.

Mine slips at 260hp and god only know what it will do with juice. When the car was new and all I had was a intake . I took it to the track and the springs in the clutch were acting up and were causing a rubbing noise on the flywheel.

Even the GM build book states that after installing the S2 kit that the clutch needs to be replaced. I thinkk it's only rated to 215hp

yea because it is a stronger clutch and more pad surface to grab hold of the flywheel . But If you go over the 300hp mark all the time then I would guess that this would not be a clutch for you .

Of a after market clutch slipping with way under the trq rating......No visual proof. Just what I was told by the guy who drives it.

was it slipping while in gear, or slipping while shifting. and was it yours or someone else's, or many people.

While in gear and only when you get to 4.5 grand ish.

I also have about 40,000 on the stock clutch though.

2.8, 60's, meth, full exhaust, CAI. Just to much power for it to handle I guess.

keep in mind guys that the gmpp clutch kit is just a turbo cobalt LNF clutch there have been dyno sheets that show right around 300whp it starts slipping. it would be a good replacment for anyone not looking for any huge power, just a couple bolt ons in a dialy driver. i myself wouldnt use it if you race or drive your car real hard.
