H E L P !!!!!
i didn't know where else to put this.
Im installing my Hurst short throw, how in the F do i get the stock ball off? i took out the screw in the top, but i can't get it to budge, and it's destroying the reverse lockout.

take two straight screw drivers (one on each side) and work them between the bottom of the stock shifter ball and the top of the reverse lock out lever and work the shifter ball off. It's tight at first but it comes off...

ok, the two worked used no effort at all. why is one so hard?!?! haha
thanks for the help guys.
jimbo, the coilovers look great. autobacs did an awesome job on leveling them out. plus the guys there were kinda mesmerized by a supercharged cobalt, they thought i did it all myself, didn't realize it's mostly stock, haha
thanks for the help guys.

Not sure whether the "HowTo" covers this but this is how you want to adjust the shifter when you put it in if your reverse lock out and 5th gear are out of alignment (I'm 99% sure they will be). Here's a post I made on another thread...
OK so I went out and took a picture of the cables for everyone and this is the cable you need to adjust (circled in red)...
Take a sharpie marker and mark the shaft of the cable directly in front of the white connector I have circled (Gives you a reference point to go back to if it gets worse or you want to go back to the stock shifter). The pull up on the tab at the front of the shifter and you can then move the shaft of the shifter cable in and out without moving the shifter. In my case 5th gear was way far to the right when compared to the other gears and 5th gear lock out still worked but the cable was stretched to the max. I moved the cable only about 1/4 out of the connector and locked it and tried it out and it was pretty much perfect. If you have problems with how it sits front to back you would basically do the same thing with the other cable until it was in the position you desired (I didn't have to adjust front to back travel when I installed mine). I would only do adjustments in 1/8" increments so that you don't adjust it too far the other way. Well I hope this helps...

well, i marked the gray one when i took it out, and everything works, including the reverse lockout. now, 5th is a little hard to find because it's not all the way over anymore, but it all works good, feels solid.
haha yeah, that may be it.
it was the shift knob that was stuck, but it's all in now, and together. feels good. TIME FOR A TEST DRIVE!
so is it the shift knob thats stuck on or the pivot ball? if it's the pivot ball that stays with the old shifter seeing as the hurst comes with a new one. if i remember correctly you have to do a little bit of assembly with the hurst shifter. if your having problems getting the pivot cup off, just pop it off, it won't hurt it.
EDIT: sounds like you got it
haha, thats cause the last one they seen was turboed.
