my friend has a saturn ion redline 2007. he launched it from a light tonight and fucked up his tranny. he lost 2nd 4th and R all the bottom gears my other friend who was with us thinks it might be the shift rails. hes a great mechanicbut has limited experience with transmissions he thinks its the shift rails (he was in the car when it happend) so for anyone who has experience with trannys your .02 would be great. and do the make upgraded shift rails for our carif that were to be the case

 

Sounds like a broken Roll Pin on the tranny. Check it. Easy fix, look where the shift linkage connects to the gold arms on top of the tranny.

 

sounds like another rollpin bites the dust. its an easy fix.

 

now by easy fix. do you mean it still needs to go the the dealership?. or is it something that you can fix yourself?

 

first take apart the center console and check to see if the shift linkage/ cables are loose.. if it was the tranny roll pin ALL gear's would not work.. i ended up losing 1st 3rd and 5th cause of a really hard launch and after readjusting my cables cause one came loose everything was fine.. hope this helps.

 

i have already taken apart the center console and everything look alright under there the cables wore moving like they should just still no 2nd, 4th, or Reverse.

Also i did a cat-delete in my car. should i make sure i put one back b4 going to the dealer?

 

no. does the CAT have ANYTHING to do with the tranny?.. and the cables could be mis adjusted or one could have slipped. i have had the cable pop out of the little retaining clip.. and the linkage pop off the bottom of the shifter.. check all that b4 you dealer it.. but then again this only happened once and i had the b and m shifter on my 07 IRL..

 

yea i have the b&m sts on mine as well.. but as i said everything look intack under the console.. i guess i could always give it another look over.. i just want my car back on the road.. lol

 

trust me as long as you marked your cables in the factory position you should take the cables and linkage apart and re assemble.. one of the cables came loose on the tran's and on the bottom of the shifter at the same time.

 

What happend was i pulled the cable right out of the tranny... ill have it back 2marro so im happy..
