help.. twm sts

Hey guys i'm installing a twm sts. My car doesn't have the metal clip in it already once i opened it up, is this bad? what does it mean? also does the whole arm rest need to be taken out or not.. ?? those directions suck

not sure which clip you're talking about, because its been years since i installed mine, however the armrest does not need to come out.

TWM is a brand and STS = Short Throw Shifter

its a metal U clip that inserts into the back side of the shift knob around the base. I don't understand y it would not be there. I read that you should mark the linkages before you disconnect them. Where should i mark this at?

mark them where the shift cables go into the plastic clips.

That metal clip doesnt need to be replaced on the TWM so it should be fine.

If your car did not have the metal U clip originally, you should be OK without it. It is surprising that it was not there though since it prevents the black cap on the shift assembly from rotating.

Marking the shift cables is a good idea especially for the one on the driver's side for side to side motion. You could wrap some masking tape around the cable at the point where it meets the plastic part that clips on the the shifter cable.
